only 6 subs???

mr blackwell does know he's allowed 7 subs this year? why does he often only pick 6? why not put a kid in to make up the numbers?

What is our leaders thinking behind this strategy of his?

For me having seven subs gives the club a chance to give promising youngsters a taste of the 'first team life' and sends a great message to them and all parents looking to choose United as their lads future

I think Blackwell just likes to be different for the sake of it...?

The academy usually plays on a Saturday morning... they probably feel that having them play a game is more beneficial in the long run than having them sit on the bench all afternoon.

I don't see it as an issue at all. If we want to put 5,6,7 on the bench it doesn't matter, 5 subs give us choice, 6 allows outfield choice and a keeper. But we're only allowed to bring 3 on anyway, so do we really need all 7?

That said, Blackie said post match that we're short of fit players so couldn't fill our bench

I'd only stick a youngster on the bench to fill the numbers if we are either short in a certain position or the youngster is good enough and pushing for a first team place.

Leaving it free could also have a positive effect, in that it shows the young lads that if they push hard and make themselves noticed, there is a place for them to play for.

According to Gary Speed on Goals on Sunday this morning they recognise the squad size as a weakness and Blackwell is hoping to bring in a couple more players, probably loans.
