He does nothing you'd expect a captain to do. He's at least stopped whining loudly all the time in high scouse but he doesn't encourage or talk to the other players. He's not vocal. He's also one of our worst players. So, why is he captain?

I don't think so. Souza is probably the nearest and at least you can see him talking to other players but I guess after last season that was never going to happen.

You'd assume so. It's a shame we can't try and speed that up.

When you think of the quality defence we had with Baldock, Basham, Egan, O'Connell and Stevens it seems unimaginable that we should now be choosing to include Jack Robinson as CB and captain. There must be some good loan players available. Such a shame about Souttar's injury and whatever was wrong with Holding.

I wouldn't be surprised, he's looked the best CB in pre season so far. Bindon has made some good blocks but also caught out of position a few times, Anel was poor yesterday when he came on.

I like Robinson as a squad player and as an influence.

But he is too error prone to be being relied on as a first choice. You know ever 4/5 games he’s going to cost a goal. The fact he’s started as much as he has is an indictment of the funds we’ve have to supplement the squad in recent years.

We should be looking to improve on him permanently, so he’s not just slotted back in in 12 months when all the loan players go back again.
