When a manager gets sacked, you normally get the “thank xxx for all their efforts and hard work, all the best for the future blah blah”. Guess it’s a way of the sacking club saying to future employers ‘he’s a good bloke, just not right for us’

Now if Wilder has, and we don’t know either way so I’m not saying he did, but imagine he went in demanding no DoF despite relegation and recruitment. He then said he wouldn’t sanction any player sales, and blamed them for relegation for not bringing in bodies in JTW.

An agreement is reached where neither party throw shit in public, even though there is animosity on both sides.

The club is hardly likely to release a gushing statement are they, especially given our impending relegation

As others have said it's tragic that we couldn't be there to pay our respects when he left but if he ever comes back, even as a opposing manager, it will rival Ray Clemence's return to Liverpool. While on the subject of goalies, same goes for Dean Henderson we owe that lad such a lot.

That's fair. I'm annoyed at everyone involved and think the last 12 months have been poor from him. But I'd be surprised if anyone gets near what he achieved and he should be recognised as our best manager 9f modern times

Hang on. For whatever reason a manager has left and a significant section of supporters hold the board responsible (even if he did resign, the board left him no choice etc.). So, given that hostility, what do people think the response would be if at this point the club release a gushing tribute to that discarded manager?

Chris Wilder provided us with what was possibly four of the most entertaining years of our blades supporting lives.
He gave us pride back in our football club
He made the owners around £300m

Yet he left under a cloud and to date has had no formal recognition of his achievements other than a few words from our CEO and a short press release on our news real.

No matter what your stance on where fault for his departure lay, I believe the club are remiss in not providing a more detailed thanks.

It shows how small minded we are if we want statues of, and stands naming after, a manager (albeit a very good one) who got a football club promoted up two tiers to a division where it has spent most of its history.

If a member of staff slags off their employer repeatedly and then leaves (whether shoved, jumped or given a parachute), said boss is hardly going to go out his way a week later to give him a tribute. Whatever the whys and wherefores are, and whoever is to blame, I cant believe fans expect someone done within a week.

Better to let the dust settle, the team (because I assume people on her support the team and not the former manager) and temporary manager to get on with playing football.

The right time for anything is the end of the season, or whenever fans are back in.

Exactly. The tribute comes from the fans, not the board. It's tragic we haven't been able to show our support at games this season but that's not the board's fault.

All I expect from the board is clarity as to the situation going forward. I don't even know what a tribute to Wilder would look like but it doesn't seem appropriate.

The silence from the club since his departure / over the reasons for his departure, have been deafening.

In my mind there were 3 main issues which Wilder cited as roadblocks to him continuing in his role which he hinted at quite strongly during his final press conferences.

1. Broken promises re upgrading the training facility at Shireclifffe.
2. As above but in connection with squad retention for next season and
3. Intentions to bring in a DOF.

Mysteriously since his departure a number of news articles have appeared in the press containing promises from the owners which (perhaps deliberately) attempt to dispel those same 3 issues.
