Why next season's going to be great

if we have the holy Trinity trio of Coutts , Fleck and Duff Man in form we will def be top 8 - we obviously need a very decent player to fight it out with Duffy but he is only going to be 1 year older !
the way some talk of Leon, Billy, Duffy you would think they are drawing their pensions next year !

all have a key part's still to play IMO , just need a good summer break and better options to compete with

The biggest single factor for me is keeping Fleck. If he's still here, we'll still be a decent team. He'd be near impossible to replace as he's such a rare player. At many games I've been at this season he's been the one who's made me feel that we're well in the game and always have a chance. Indeed I've lost count of the second halves he's bossed away from home. Without him we'd be extremely pedestrian.
Agree but I believe this ties in with keeping Wilder too ⚔️

I think you’ll find we already have someone fighting it out with Duffy, probably being hit with some crutches. :)

OK, here we go, let's see how this one's received:

One way or the other, we're going to have a resolution on who owns the club going forwards.
Wilder is going nowhere and there is no better manager to get this team firing.
We have a team that has proved it can mix it with any other team in this division.
Brooks is staying and will only get better.
Coutts will be back.
We will strengthen in the summer.
The teams coming up shouldn't worry us overmuch.
The teams coming down don't look too scary either (please God let one of them be West Ham).
I can't see anyone doing a Wolves unless Fulham don't go up.
Our ground isn't a rust bucket.

Anything else?

Just a little bit...

There’s no guarantee the ownership will be resolved. This stalemate could run and run.

There is no money available to spend on the type of quality players we need to strengthen the squad.

The most obvious way of raising funds would be to sell Brooks, but even then there’s no guarantee Wilder would see that money.

The current squad aren’t capable of having another season like this one.

Apart from that....

The positive for me is that Wilder and Knill now have 1 years experience in the Championship.
They will know what’s required, where we are strong and where we are weak.
I suspect have a plan, it all depends how they are backed.

Still think our midfield will be amongst the best in the division, so we have a good base.
Defence needs better organisation.
Attack needs a total overhaul
Will be a big season for Brooks.

I thought this season was great.

As Wider put it, great to be in with a shout game 45 of a 46 game season.

As someone on here said [sorry yer can't be stood on Wilders pedestal, can't remember who], better to not turn up for 3/4 games than only turn up for 5.

Pigs?

Fucked it up by August 31st.

They'd done that when Chansiri asked the bold Carlos to stay on.JACK.PNG

Some you win, some you lose!

Wasn’t a bad effort that eh?

Said there was no guarantee the ownership issue would be resolved - and it still isn’t.

Said we’d need to sell Brooks to fund improvements to the squad. And that’s what happened.

The major surprise for me is that Wilder got monies to improve the squad.

For that we should be grateful!

So then; when will bleeding Brexit finally be sorted CB.:D

Great post. Hamburg Blade posts an optimistic few of how the blades will fair in 18/19. You come on and poor cold water on his view and generally are a bit (reasonably) negative about our chances.

We get promoted. And you claim you were right.

If Boris' bullshit bravado fails, you should have a go 😉

If I remember correctly, there was another thread that was massively negative, I criticised it and someone said, "well if you want to start a positive thread, be my guest", and this is it. I was hoping it would be a thread for people to just put anything positive they could think of, but some people just couldn't bring themselves to do it. 😂

Err no I didn’t claim I was right about us getting promoted! I think you’ve misunderstood what I was saying there. I was saying that I got two fundamental things spot on. But I was surprised to see Wilder get financial backing and I wasn’t optimistic we’d improve on the previous season and I definitely didn’t expect promotion given those circumstances.

The point I was making (not very well obviously) is that despite the unresolved ownership issue and the sale of Brooks, we still got promoted, and that was an amazing achievement.
