Why is it so quiet?

Very worrying we're not even being linked with anyone, it's so quiet in rumour world!

Watching Slav's interview back last night, he seemed p*ssed off when he mentioned yet again he wants 4-5 players, doesn't seem a lot is moving along at all.

Things can escalate very quickly in the last week with players becoming available but surely that means whoever we sign now hasn’t be drafted as a target but more of a panic buy

You'd think with the national bog roll shortage wed have been raking it in last year. WEERZMUNNEHGONE

When does the window close? Friday?

I've been preaching patience about signings and the manager.

I will continue to advocate patience for Slav beyond next week but if no incomings are abound before September, then my teddies won't just be thrown out of the cot, I'll be ripping their fucking heads off with my teeth.

Being optimistic, perhaps the lack of news is a sign of us quietly and strategically biding our time with a number of targets in our sights. I'm keen to see some deals done, but will, for the time being, remain patient.

I hope so, but even if what you say is correct, the calibre of loans we are looking at doesn't actually inspire me. The one that appeared to have something about him has turned us down (Diallo) Viera failed his medical and Olsen isn't interested in joining us.

Who are we left with that will not only get in the side, but improve us?

Struggling at the minute to come up with decent names. On top of that, I'm not an advocate of too many loans anyway. I would've hoped that selling Rammers for the reported fee would at least have given SJ a few bob to bring in a purchase or two, but alas, this doesn't appear to be the case as things stand

I'll ring the club and ask Bettis and Slav to give you a call to fill you in on all the details so you're in the loop....

I know what the OP means though, you just don't get the feeling that a deal is about to happen, maybe with the exception of the 35 year old from Al Garafa as that seems imminent.

Not only are Utd v slow to make moves but the whole market is v slow.
Clubs will not release players until such time as they have replacements lined up.

He’s sniffing some serious glue if he genuinely thinks he’ll get 4-5 new signings now.

Not looking good though is it?

If this is the boards attempt at being serious about our attempt at a return to the Prem, then it's a worry
Maybe they've realised this squad is nowhere near good enough for a promotion push this season and don't feel rushed into making signings. I think this season is a rebuilding job ready to go again next season but I think it's risky considering the downward trajectory of this side. The lack of activity is a worry and I don't know on what assurances SJ took the job.

yes it is all a bit similar to what happened in january when the prince realising we had no chance of survival pulled the plug with loan signings and i think its happening again hes realised weve no chance of promotion with this squad so is keeping his wallet firmly shut hes probably accepted like lots of blades fans that this season will be a season of transition then maybe go for it next summer personally i also thought this squad would easily be good enough for a top 6 finish at this level but just shows how wrong you can be do think the players are either underperforming badly or their just not playing for the new manager

Erm….for there to be a transition you need new friggin players!

Wait til January the prices are inflated, wait til next summer we need to replace even more.

It’s absolutely critical SJ be allowed signings if they’ve decided we are a total rebuild, loans just won’t do it and would be a waste of time.
Loans only work to put the final touches to an already competitive squad, but the way we are being set up and those players utilised is getting the exact opposite out of them!

No players this summer you can forget promotion this season and next given their record in recruitment

The main reason(s) for me is the transition to a new system, they have been playing the exact same way for years in the previous one with absolutely NO deviation. We never tried owt else. Now with no pre season and a new manager its all change, they have had zero time to adjust to a new system/formation. No wonder were a bit shit. Once they've been at it for a while im sure they'll come good

The squad is however bad enough to get in a relegation fight, that's why we need some signings.

Maybe so but the way things are going it’s not difficult to actually come to the conclusion that if we don’t do something we could actually be in a relegation fight

but they really shouldnt be should they these players are either massively underperforming or their just not playing for this guy

It does seem like we are willing to write the season off rather than pile money on top of bad money. Long term it could well be for the best but it's very risky presuming this group will have enough to be safe and also that anyone will want them in the next few transfer windows. I think the board, manager and coaches are shocked at how bad we actually are and realise they need a clear out. Unfortunately it looks like it's too late to do anything about it now.

Honestly, it's beyond me. I fear we're going to do a Sunderland and plummet - if we don't bounce back this season that could well happen. I know it's early days, I'm not one of those wanting to sack Slav, but feck me, c'mon and get some transfer targets mentioned, prince! Give your fans something to get excited abut because right now there aren't many fans giddy for this season. We all were a couple of months ago but with this stagnant approach, it's certainly not exciting!!
