Why/how are we the only club that never does pitch invasions?

To be absolutely clear its a good thing that we don't do it and other clubs shouldn't do it.

However Burnley did it, Sunderland did it tonight- hell even Bristol City did it.

How have we managed it so effectively?

Think we’ve realised it’s wank to invade the pitch to win a po semi final.

I was only mentioning this to my mate the other day, as far as I can see there's only us who dont

Think most folk know it’s a bit tinpot. It’s especially embarrassingly tinpot seeing grown men running on the pitch like they’ve just won the euromillions jackpot. Can see the appeal with young lads/lasses though.

We've done it several times, just not of late. Most famously v Leicester in 1990. That was some day, fancy dress everywhere.

…and the following season away at Villa when Vinnie scored our first goal in about seven games, then at home to Forest after our first win of the season at the seventeenth attempt.

Sinclair kept mentioning yesterday lifetime bans etc. Not worth the risk surely.

Its interesting. Why don't other clubs say that? Why doesn't the FA punish clubs that don't say that and when it happens? (apart from the pathetic fine that Forest got)

Is it a cultural/behavioural thing with us?

Or does the club have an especially good crowd management and stewarding team?

We do sometimes invade the pitch but if we did it this season we would have been fined a billion pounds.

Lack of energy and enthusiasm?

It's also both recent promotions - Ipswich and WBA at home

Wouldn't have expected anything last night or for any similar scenario

We've invaded the pitch so often we got tired of it.

I remember we even invaded the pitch in the final home game against Burnley under Warnock when we had nothing to play for but we put paid to Burnley's playoff hopes if I remember correctly.

That's why the 1982 season is remembered so fondly. Crewe away, Peterborough at home, Darlington away huge pitch invasions.

Not only invading the pitch, but got the impression from the Keiffer Moore interview after the match that we were not planning on any celebrations as we had not won anything. Whereas Sunderland seemed to be planning on a big party.
Think in this instance we have got it right, stay focussed as we have a job to do

Absolutely right that it doesn't happen.

Maybe its because we remember Hillsborough? (different context yes I know, and as others mentioned we have done it before but not recently)

I think the only way to stop it is for the FA to say that if a club does it their ticket allocation for the final gets reduced by 50%.

Remember for a while we’d go onto the pitch at the end of the season most years.

Pitch invasion when we beat Leeds in 03. There was a bit of one when we beat Stevenage in the play offs as well.

I think these days people prefer to let the players enjoy their moment. Any incursions onto the pitch are usually a handful of nobheads who get booed off.

I've been present a few times when it's happened, but nothing in recent memory that springs to mind, especially not at home.

The last one I recall was Northampton away in 2017. Then I think we did at least one pitch invasion in 02/03, though it might have been 2 or 3. And then when we beat Cov on pens in 98 I think we did too.

Overall I think we (Blades specifically) have developed a greater respect for the players and their safety, compared to some other teams. But some of that behaviour has evolved generally, and moved away from pitch invasions, and towards pyrotechnics. Which is a whole other can of worms.

That's when we had proper support. Before we got infiltrated by the simpering soggy-rice pudding heads and Guardian reading, hand-wringers who frown on any overt show of pashun.

No further questions, y'honour. So rests the case for the defence m'lud.

I was expecting a pitch invasion last night. We sit 3 rows from the pitch on the south stand, but I warned my son it's not worth getting a ban when we've already renewed our season cards.

I think it's after Billy Sharp got side swiped by those tossers at Forest. We respect the occasion.

We pretty much always have tbh. I can remember years ago when invasions started, the majority of the crowd booed, and it spluttered out.

As a club we've always shown restraint, although Leicester in 1990 was very different wasn't it?!??!

Absolutely, and its not for you or others to answer but genuinely curious about why fans of other clubs do it but not us?

What's the difference between them and us and why?

as many have said Nottingham forest was turning point. it feels like we would be disappointing Billy Sharp. to do that another opposition player. knowing what we went through

First time I remember being on the pitch was v Peterborough in 1982 when we clinched promotion from Div 4. Only as the entire crowd was on by that point. I was on again the following week at Darlington. About ten years back, some last home match laps of honour were delayed / spoilt by people running on and we've largely stayed off ever since.
