If he was playing shit with a strike partner who played to Sharp's strengths then he deserves to be criticised.

The way Wilder is setting up the team, Sharp has no chance to play well. It's like playing him at right back and then wondering why he's wank.

Agreed, but this is the fault of the manager - Billy did really well last year in a poor team - Wilder is making him look poor in this system

2 up top. It's pointless me saying anything other than Sharp n Clarke as this is clearly what Wilder has set his stall out for. It hasn't worked, it won't work and we really should be looking to make changes.
For me Clarke is not a plan A player. Happy to have him on the bench as a plan B.
Now that Evans fella, particularly in Tandom with Sharp ...............

You clearly could not have been at the game cos it was more like this.

He "won" about 25%.

From this 25% possession turnover was around 80%.

He "lost" about 75%.

From this 75% possession turnover was around 80%.

So he was "effective" 20% of 25% which if my maths is good is 5% of the time.

I still think the same as I did last season , he doesn't create any where near enough and doesn't give the defence problems. Last season everything was built around him, never substituted and one of the few who wasn't asked to play a different role /position throughout the season. I agree he picked up in the second half of the season and maybe he'll do the same again but I wish Done had been given half the opportunities and consistency of position that Billy has as I think Done could offer more. For me Done starts with Clarke and we see how they perform up front , if it doesn't work try mcnulty.
 
He's too petulant. Could and probably should have seen red last night for what looked to me like a punch on their player on the floor.

Also, he's no captain. I watched him during the lengthy stoppage in the first half when their man was down injured and when we were 3 down, he just stood alone upfront, no motivation or rallying of the players.
 
No player is immune from criticism.
No player can live off past glories and you're only in the side if you're good enough.

At the moment, we need a team of lads playing together. All contributing.
Having someone who's sole job is to put the ball in the net, and contribute nothing else is a luxury we cannot afford and cannot carry.
He either contributes to the team, or loses his place.
Likewise midfielders....can't just tackle....can't just track runners. Every player needs to be contributing in all areas of the game.

Seems we are a team of complete strangers and individuals. Individuals who on paper look pretty good, but collected together and told to play can't do it!
Question is....Why?
 
This isn't a criticism of just Sharp, but all of our forwards and any midfielder who rarely gets in the box.

Why, no matter who the manager is, when a good 80% of our crosses are drilled in low, do none of our forward players ever make an attempt to get across the front of the first man?! I can't remember the last player we had that does it and it has me tearing my (little remaining) hair out every single game I watch.

Still our best player though, for me he should have given mcnulty a go at half time but that would have probably meant takingbilly off, that wasn't going to happen,was it. If mcnulty couldn't get on last night and doesn't play a part on Saturday he may as well leave, he at least would have had a go.
 
I think it's fair to say both Sharp and Clarke are being made to look like idiots with this "style" of play. Wilder has basically taken the strengths from each of them, tossed them away and made them player only using their weaknesses.

Spot on and the quicker he reverts to playing football on the deck the better.
We've got two wingers Duffy and Chapman and two attacking wing backs Brayford and Hussey can we use them please.

I hear Chesterfield have a striker who will be worth a lot of money at the end of this season. Maybe we could take a look at him before the price goes up! Only SUFC could have fucked this up so badly.

We've not had the players to play 442 for years now. Sharp has never played well off a target man and Clarke is no target man.

Hmmmm now how shall I get us playing? Ooh I know I'll play 442 with Sharp playing off the target man and Clarke as the target man.

WTF?? 4 games in and I'm not convinced he's aware we don't have the players to play the system he's trying to impose. I'm sure someone mentioned he's a fan and kept tabs on us and knew what the issues were.
