Why don't they make an announcement - What is wrong with the PR department at Bramall Lane

Sorry if I've missed it as I have been away (no Jim not the big house), but I have just read in the local Peterborough Telegraph that their chairman has confirmed that regarding Burrows 1. They accepted the offer last Sunday 2. He had his medical at the Lane on Wednesday and signed a long term deal. 3. He has left it to the buying club to make an announcement.

Now call me a cynic if you want but this to me is really good news but the pathetic PR department at Bramall Lane is not fit for purpose/none existent. Why would you not announce this right away as its a good news item and keep the fans informed?

I actually blame the Prince for the lack of comms as its my opinion (my opinion) that he doesn't give a monkeys about us the fans. Another example of a Royal thinking it doesn't matter to keep the 'plebs' (us) onside.

Not looking for a argument but it really annoys me (along with many others things)

Posh owner has tweeted this morning I believe, and confirmed what you've mentioned, but he also said that "we signed our forms & now down to buying club to submit/announce formally"

I went back and checked when we announced the other 4 signings we've made so far this summer. They were all over the place - earliest being 10:30am, while O'Hare wasn't until nearly 8:30PM. So timing seemingly isn't an issue.

Which means that the club hasn't made an announcement yet, for the most simple of reasons - the transfer is not "completed" yet. By which I mean, not all paperwork is signed off and approved by the EFL.

Now there could be many reasons why that is. Maybe we're just being slow getting our docs sent off. Maybe we're still sorting the funding out for the transfer fee. Maybe we've done everything already, and are just waiting for the EFL to come back and give us the thumbs-up. Without being either the player, or someone intimately involved in the deal, it's impossible to give a certain answer.

So why are we throwing all the criticism at "the PR department"? I'd bet that all their stuff has been sorted out for a while. They can't just put a video out because they feel like it - they have to have to authorisation to do so, presumably from someone high up at the club who would know when the deal is officially completed.
 
We usually are pretty prompt with new signings no? I'd imagine it's something to do with the full paperwork/registration process etc. not being completely finished. Seems odd to try and get at the PR department here. Would look stupid if we announced a player early and then it fell through later for whatever reason...

No it’s the fax machine that’s on annual leave, it sent me the following message this morning.

Landed safely, glad to get off the plane as it was full of nobheads but that’s what you get for flying on a Friday.

Just unpacked after a cheeky beer, going out to take the local scenery in a bit. Erm hang on the cleaners are here, no Conchita don’t take my plug out for fuc……

It's a shitty cop-out answer but it will simply be that the marketing team will have a spreadsheet of the times/days of past posts and there will be an optimum time they need to post to make sure they get the most views and clicks. That's all, just marketing shite.
 
They have had to order an extremely large pair of shorts for the Burrows Bollox,,,,,,Errea dont have any instock so are hurriedly having some stitched up,the seamstress was rather taken aback when she offerered up the tape measure.

Thank you for defending the club, but all these maybe's..................well? If my memory serves me right it didn't take the dirties this long to announce Bogle? Its just endemic of the current ownership of this club. They don't give a flying *uck about their customers the heartbeat of the club and treat us with total contempt. I have watched us since 1971 I can honestly say this is the worst lack of comms under any regime? And we have had some dodgy characters. Paperwork these days can be completed almost instantaneously (even faxed lol) so thats no real excuse. Its just very very poor, everything about this regime is amateurish and lacks any engagement.

It should be a good news story for gods sake!

No, but with the number of media outlets that have been talking about us & Burrows, it's fairly straightforward to put 2 and 2 together I think. Sky Sports confirmed he was having a medical, Wilder himself said to Radio Sheffield we were working on a deal after the Harrogate game (though his timeline was off a little to be fair)
 
Well we kick off week after next so somethings got to give either way on things unless he expects us to not use a goalkeeper or right backs this season.

Everyone involved has signed NDA’s. This will work in our favour next season as he will not get any bookings, offsides, handballs etc due to the fact that no one will be able to disclose to the officials who he is.
