Why do we struggle to sell out v rovrum

Crowd noise is organic and reciprocal and by no means should it be manufactured. Singing sections and some knobhead banging on a drum is so fucking naff. Us up in the BL corner can’t sing for toffee, but when the Blades are on it…so are we. We leave all the inspirational stuff to the well oiled lads in G & H.

Ever since I started going. What you need is something controversial happening ealy on. Gets crowd involved.

A big tackle always seemed to help back in the early 90s.

But things have changed. Our home atmosphere isn't the best but who's is.

The last away game I went to when I felt intimidated was Sunderland in play off second leg.

I went to a fair few away games. Not so much no die to family. But home games are routine. Away days are days out.

Arguably pig game but that's more to do with nerves that intimidation

I "love" these - you're a pig - forum pile ons. There was one a few years ago pig piling on a bloke I knew in real life, we both used to travel to away games on Shreds Bus...

I have my suspicions about the Carrier bag firm tbh - very deeply integrated pig infiltrators playing the very very long game.

Did you ever buy or read a copy of the Dem Blades fanzine? One of the articles written and printed was by one of my Sheffield Wednesday mates. (With the full knowledge of the Editor). I don't subscribe to all this fake rivalry. You're a pig, no you're the pig. I prefer proper rivalry. "We" decided it'd be a great jape to have loads of pig haters reading a piece in the fanzine written by "a pig". We even planted one sentence that would identify to the trained eye it was written by a Wednesdayite. That's how the fucking CBF roll...

To answer the original questions it's a local Derby purely by location. It's not a big game.

Radio Sheff will build it up. But fans don't see it that way

They'll be over 30K there on Saturday, which isn't too shabby for not a big game.
Does anyone know when a Sheffield Wednesday v Rotherham fixture broke the 30K barrier?

You need to go back to the 1958-59 season. 63 years ago.
Since that date they've played 10 league matches at Hillsboro, none broke that magical 30K barrier.

In the past when there's been only 26K to 27K for this fixture at Hillsboro the excuse has been, Rotherham only brought 3K.
As I've said the facts prove that this century Wednesday can only get a 30K crowd when the away team brings 5K fans
or it's the last match of the season with promotion resting on it.

As long as we win I couldn't give a flying fuck on attendance.

Cos I ain't a pig.

I'd rather us beat Reading away with just me there than 3k there and lose

Every Blade worth his salt should be coming to every home game just now , even if it's only to see Ndiaye , Berge & Anel in their current form - they are worth the ticket price alone + they might not be here for much longer.
If we can't entice our "walk-up" fans just now - with "the best view in the ground available to those without STs" - at the current price - then that price needs reducing - coz what's happening on the pitch now is pretty magical.
We're talking about getting 5%of the population of 600k to attend & watch an exciting team.
25% of Burnley go to Turf Moor.
15% of Sunderland go to Mackems.
Sheffield is the home of football.
C'mon Sheffielders , show you deserve a PL team !

Problem is, I like to drape my legs over the seat in front and rest my arms on the seats either side of me, have no one between me and the pitch, and stay sat down for set peices, shit decisions and goals. Not coming If it's that busy up there.

You lost me at a sheffield Wednesday mate.

I’m confused. No mate of mine is a pig

Even with the facts and figures presented to em in large print they still don't see it. Youve got pitsmoor banging on about the 38k v wycombe in 2012. Well done, but there weren't 38k there the next game IN A HIGHER DIVISION!! They're fair weathers and they know it. Just scared to admit it. The only reason they get in the 20s is because we do. The only reason they sell out away is because it gives them something to cling to. Wait for Preston with the travel issues. We always sell that one out but due to the travel issues we wont. They'll bang on about some shit. Fuck em. Pricks

45,000 packed into 3 sides, you couldn't even scratch your nose that night on the Kop it was that rammed.
Nobody took a 10 year old on the Kop for his first match on a school night.
I must have been a wrong un as a kid then as i went to every game that season with my mates as a 12 year old. Lol

Also £34 a ticket? For United and Rotherham? I was planning on taking my mum but not a chance I'm spending 70 quid to watch a footy match.

Having a ST I didn't even consider this. But yep. Big factor especially nowadays

It's not really been mentioned but we've kind of copied Chansiri's pricing policy, but not quite as bad.

A few year back, Chancer announced how important advanced season ticket sales were because it allows his club to know what transfer budget they have.
His explained that "genuine fans" should always buy season ticket and he will endeavour to keep these prices affordable and reasonable.
I believe his vision was that over 90% of attendees at SWFC home matches would be season ticket holders.

However he said that casual part-time fans and away fans will be penalised by being charged higher prices and they had this weird category A to G system
where cat A games were about £40 in the Championship.

There was loads of controversy at the time about SWFC having the highest pay on the day prices in the league
but this marketing strategy kind of forced people to buy season tickets and they ended up having record ST holders.

The Prince has also put up our pay on the day prices. We're one of the highest in the Championship.
SWFC lowered all their prices when they went down to league 1, hence they don't brag about revenue anymore and we currently charge more than them.
However The Prince has kept our season tickets at a reasonable price, so now it seems a no brainer to buy a season ticket.
We were saying amongst the ST holders around me at the Fulham game (last match) that (unless there's a reason) you'd be mad not to renew your season ticket.

The result of this pricing strategy is record season ticket sales for us. No matter what kind of season we have.
We're pretty much gauranteed a minimum 25K gate, as ST holders are automatically included in the official attendance.

We've sold out at Preston once in every single visit there in the last 20 years. Including a championship playoff semi final where we managed to muster up a grand total of 2k. You cannot knock there away support, it's exceptional, you cannot knock our home attendances either, also very very impressive

Hadn't about 8k of us trekked to Palace the week before that Preston playoff game, to see us muster 0 shots in a crunch promotion game? Might explain the 2k support at Preston.
