Just been having a quick look at the blades website and had a look at the daily media review and can't help but get concerned when i hear blackwell mention this word "vulnerable". Read it for yourself and i agree tell the player but reject all offers.
Anyway let me know your thoughts

That approach has worked really well at Everton hasn't it? Ripping start to the season at Goodison!

KB: 'Killa, we've had an offer from Wigan, we don't want to sell you and don't need to but they're prepared to pay you £30K a week.'
MK: 'Right boss, I'm off'

What do we do ? Keep an unhappy player as Everton tried to do with Lescott or just get the best deal we can and move on ? It's OK saying refuse all offers etc etc but if the player wants to go then it's best he does IMO.

The question is, why has Killa so far refused to sign a contract, is he (or his agent) simply trying it on for the best deal or is he just waiting on a move ?

Of course we are vunerable. We are not in the Premiership and as such have to sell to ensure a healthy bank balance.

Whats the option? We keep him and then he goes for nowt at the end of his contract?

If the offer is right every player has his price. I would rather we didn't sell but I fully expect that we will have to.

Get used to it, outside the big 4/5 clubs in this country we are all selling clubs.

Presumably because his agent has told him (rightly or wrongly) that he could get him £x,000 per week in the PL, whereas we are only prepared to offer £y,000 (where x>>>>>y),

but no doubt it will happen last minute with no chance of getting a replacement it is always us selling our best players not the other 23 in the league???????????????????
Thought we had the biggest wage bill in the division and our players were on premier league wages????????????????????
Its all a load of rubbish prepare for Carney, Billy, Haber and Killa to go by monday and NO replacements leaving us with the bare minimum and probably still the highest wage bill in the division well thats what we'll be told.

We now have a squad of 23 players with haber and carney going today. 22 if billy goes, 3 of the 22 are on loan and remember they all expect walker can be called back.

From the current top 6 alone;

Boro have lost Downing and a few others and may well lose Huth before next week
Newcastle have lost Owen, Martins, Duff, Bassong and a few others, Taylor may well leave
Cardiff have lost Johnson and Parry
PNE have lost McKenna

Swansea, Reading, Donny, Coventry, Watford, Palace, all lost their better players this Summer.

Losing players is inevitable for clubs outside the Prem, the key is having the ability to bring replacements in and outside of the parachute payment clubs, we are better placed than anyone in this division.

You're a cheery soul aren't you?

In terms of Walker:
a) I doubt he can be called back as season loans generally mean they're here for the season
b) Spurs still have 3 right backs at the club despite Chimbonda going and would not risk someone untried in that role.

Hope that makes you feel better. If not, I'll come round yours and spoon you to sleep maybe?

With a squad our size all from the clubs you mentioned players have been replaced except newcastle and most for financial reasons we shouldn't need to sell.

Its win at all costs. And Bully with money.

The rules need sorting. There should be fewer agents. Fees should be set at a maximum for signing on and also a % of salary.

For me a player/ his agent and the club that owns him should agree his worth each season. Anything below that they don't accept and possibly don't tell the player.
The club should deal only with the prospective buying club. Not agents.
The agent should only be informed when the offer has been accepted.
Players cannot put in a transfer request for a period after agreeing a contract

But most importantly the clubs (all 92) should have a gentlemans agreement.

Say a maximum of 3 offers. If they don't meet the value set by the club and player then its over for that club until 2 transfer windows later.

I'd also like to see a club take a stand and keep the player, but let them go on gardening leave if they are unsettled.

Any club that unsettles a player like Man City with Terry and Lescott should be docked points.

Clubs should also be prevented from spending more than their turnover.

I live in a fantasy world, none of this will ever happen

Its the greed of the bigger clubs, that is now spoiling it for the lower leagues. It pisses me off how many of these big time men are buying clubs for one or 2 reasons. Dodgy money been made good again.

I think whenever promising players come through now in the lower leagues, the big guns will be on them like a fly on shit. It will show loyalty and commitment to those that stay anyways.

Thats why i said all except walker can be called back

Just pointing out it's not just us that's selling our best players as you quoted. Different clubs have different reasons for selling but the bottom line is the same, the better players will end up in the Prem whether the clubs want, or need, to sell.

Even if Killa stays we are short of centre-backs. KB must surely be looking to bring in someone experienced at this level before the transfer window shuts. Without it, an injury and a suspension could leave us with a hole at the back big enough to drive a jumbo jet through.

On the back up front, I think he's still hopeful on Fortune, he's still training with us apparently, or should I say recuperating.

Don't understand the mystery for Killa, of course his agent will say wait until after the window. Even if he does sign, there's always the next window. The funds the Prem clubs have just make our asking prices a joke. Four million is a lot to us, for a Prem club that's just a bench player - cue Tonge.

Not sure I follow your logic there. Working on the basis that the agent gets a cut of the fee, we could get a decent fee for him now but that will drop to next to nothing in January as he'll only have months left on his contract. I can see Killa waiting to see where we are in January but surely his agent would prefer he moved now.

Why sign a contract with us until he knows there are no Prem offers. We, the club, stand to lose money with each window but Killa and agent can always get their cash - no rush, just wait for the best deal like Lita.

You're presuming Killa and his agent have the same agenda !

Killa will get his cash whatever but it wouldn't be in the agent's interest if he went anywhere in January.

Looks like Boro couldn`t say no, Huth and Tuncay on their way to Stoke, £11 million for the pair, Beattie and Tuncay up front dont look too bad.

Cardiff have lost Johnson and Parry

I'll give you Johnson but Parry wasn't a loss for Cardiff. He'd fell massively out of favour.

As said above, a non-Premiership club is always vulnerable. I accept that as long as we hold out for as much money as we can get out of these deals.

But you said it is always us selling our best players not anyone else and yet Boro have sold 3 of their top players without replacing them. Saying Downing is injury prone just shows your ignorance 181 appearances for Boro and he only broke into the first team 5 seasons ago. He's played an average of 30 games a season since he was 20 years old. He has had two main injuries in his entire career and missed one league game last season.

The reason I asked who replaced Downing was because Naughton has left the club but we've got Walker. As someone else posted in regard to Johnson a ready made replacement so how are we the only club that is selling its best players when Boro, Newcastle, WBA, Cardiff have done exactly the same thing. We've lost one player in the close season, a player who had only played 30 odd first team games in his United career.
You are just posting overly negative rubbish.

hang on all the teams you mentioned are buying players as well as selling therefore replacing unless they already have a large squad? we have lost one player in the close season? up to and including today we have lost plenty more than that. Its not over negative at all we have a tiny squad getting smaller by the day and we are not linked with anyone. The point i have been trying the make is we are selling players and not buying our squad is to small. Boro, WBA, Newcastle etc etc are buying or have a big squad even swansea are buying players.

Middlesborough 27 players and buying
WBA 31 players and buying
Cardiff 36 and buying
Newcastle 24
SUFC 22 and selling

Am just trying to make the point on our squad size Newcastle are the closest and we know the problems there i just don't understand why we are selling players and not replacing if someone comes in for Killa on Monday he will go and then we have big problems.

ALL BLADES AREN'T WE

The point i have been trying the make is we are selling players and not buying our squad is to small.

The main problem is that despite the fact that the ins and out have been pretty much even stevens with 10 coming in at last count (9 if you ignore Kyle), we had several on loan at the end of last season so the squad was small in the 1st place.

Presuming Bromby and Billy leave which looks likely, and hoping Killa doesn't, it leaves us with;

GK: Bunn, Benno
D: Walker, Killa, Morgs, Taylor, Naysmith, France
M: Monty, Hendrie, Howard, Treacy, Cotts, Reid, Little, Squinny, Williamson
S: Evans, Hendo, Ward

KB and KM both talked about a quality squad of around 22/23 players so even that leaves us a few short and if we get any key injuries in certain positions we're knackered. Interesting that almost half the squad is midfielders and that's still the key area for improvement for most !

It's an 11 a side game! If Cardiff have a squad of 36 and buy more, they are taking a Rids-iculous gamble maintaining three teams when all they need is one plus a bit of cover. A squad of about 25 is easily enough. If we have 22 now, we can still lose a couple more over the weekend and then add 4 or 5 decent loanees. Nice tight squad, small risk of highly paid millstones around the neck and free to lose or add players in or out of the transfer windows if/when injuries happen or injured players regain fitness.
