Why are we signing players from a relegation league 1 side?? Just made one signing and JP McGovern will be next that came from the man himself. So i ask why are we bringing players in from a side that was relegated from league 1 last season?? are we taking the best from a bad bunch or are they cheap squad fillers??

Because we have no money. Next!

The same question could be asked of Premier League clubs that always raid sides just relegated to the Championship for their best players.

It's all relative really.

Because Wilson knows the players. If (hypothetically speaking) Micky Adams was to sign Lowton, Quinn and Slew do you think that the Port Vale fans would be complaining. Just because they went down does not mean they don't have some good players. I have no issues with Wilson raiding his old club to bring in the players he likes the best and has worked well with before. He is in a good position to know if 'Lecs' and McGovern will fit in at SUFC. What matters is that he brings in better than what we have got. Is this French/Haitan guy better than Taylor and Collins. Almost certainly.

No port vale fans would be delighted with players from league 1 who were championship last season with them in league 2. We are signing players who couldn't keep a team in league 1 however don't forget i did ask the question are we signing the best of a bad bunch i was after peoples opinions???

Just because a team is relegated doesn't mean that All the players are poor. There are many factors to consider when a team is relegated....like having three(four if being picky) managers in one season doesn't help. No way of knowing but stability throughout last season may not have seen us relegated?

Answer to op-they maybe the best (or the better) of a bad bunch?

Do you think Prem teams should be going for the likes of Adam and Vaughan who couldn't keep Blackpool up ?

It does come across as a criticism of the clubs/managers recruitment policy though DP. I don't think we are able to enter the market for players who have just enjoyed promotion/successful season at the high ends if their respective leagues. We're skint!

The same reason that Championship clubs will raid us for players.

We have "some" good players.. Monty, Quinn, Hendo, Evans etc. all more than capable at this level, some just didn't work out for us.

Look at Britton, Harper & Howard, all players that were shite for us that have since done well at other clubs at our level.

Ched Evans looked the best he's ever looked after Adams came in, that could be the alan Cork influence but certain players are good, they just need the right nurturing.

For all we know, this guy might be a future legend... Once again, we need to give the guy a chance.

also,

it's the same reason that Mourinho signed loads of Portuguese players to Chelsea. I bet the Chelsea fans were thinking. P. Feraira & Carvalho weren't good enough for them.

No one would fault Wilson if he raided a relegated club for their best player. However that is not the opinion of the Swindon fans while there the lad was Wilson's 3rd or 4th choice, he rarely played him.
Are we that bad or is he a squad filler.

Harsh on Britton - he always impressed me. A good player who was dragged down by the ineptitude of others.

Yes they are good players you seem to be another that has read this post totally wrong, i am asking what people think to the targets are who getting the best of a bad bunch or average squad fillers??? Why are we raiding the relegated club? Answers will be either we shouldn't there crap or yes we are getting the better players in a relegated side.

Yet not good enough to drag the best out of those around him? Luxury player I thought, he was billed as a player to build the team around.

Never impressed in a Blades shirt for me, but has done well in a Swansea side with much better players since.

Yes i perhaps could have worded it better, however we can't be that skint as we are signing before selling.

Young, tall, athletic, passing, skill, centre half and left back. Ticks a lot of boxes, let's just hope he can avoid the errors and lapses of concentration.

Thought this had been ruled out by Wilson? How did you hear about this DP?

How do you know that he is better than Taylor/Collins. How many times have you seen him play, what do you know about him that we don't?

As someone who has watched Taylor and Collins regularly I am surprised you are asking me that. Although I guess I should expect you to be defending the Collins, him being the signing of your beloved hoofy Adams. The law of averages says that there simply cannot be another professional footballer worse than Collins. Apparently this guy is athletic, quick and a decent defender. (Apparently) He is also comfortable on the ball, can pass and has a decent left foot. If in reality he has one of these attributes then he will be better than Collins. Taylor has a decent left foot, but cannot defend for toffee. Perhaps he will be less found out in League One, but his lack of pace strenght and positional awareness make him a lame duck to any decent winger.

I liked Britton. I liked Howard too. I don't think we ever saw the best out of either player. Britton was a cut above the rest but because the players around him weren't then we never really got the best out of him.

How good was James Harper at Reading? I used to hate them coming to lane. Harper, Doyle, Lita etc. Ripped us to shreds. But Harper was toss at Utd.

same could happen with Montgomery. He's quality for us. Fits in exactly to what we are. If he goes to QPR or Leeds he'll not be recognised as much.

This french bloke might be the type of player who couldn't play to his potential at Swindon as they were shite. He might fit in perfectly for us.

We don't know because nobody knows anything about him. Danny wilson obviously knows him

A player shouldn't always be judged on the players around him! Scott Parker won player of the year in a relegated Wet Spam team, yet he would walk into most PL teams.

Yep, I wonder if fans of a Premier League team that signed Scott Parker, Mathew Upson and Thomas Hitzleberger would grumble because 'West Ham got relegated and conceded 70 goals'.

I think we may know behind the scenes (not itk people) people who actually make the decisions that at least a few players will be shifted....just a matter of time. Whether they are the top earners at the club...let us see.

I think they might moan if they signed Kozzy (i.e. a bit part player signed from a team relegated from the division below) which is a much fairer analogy to our Haitian chap

I think you need to talk to the man himself again.

He's obviously doesn't know his own mind, 'cos he ain't coming here.

Little clip from a Swindon fan with regards to our signing '
Wilesy, Swindon says...

Bizarre transfer why has Wilson signed his 3rd or 4th choice centre back? He was ok and a good passer but prone to errors. Good luck to him but I can see Wilson getting stick when a few errors get made which he knows will happen. I would be concerned if I was a blades fan. Big club, and this is the best cb the new manager can sign?? Worrying times for them.

But those "best" players tended to have played regularly to prove they performed better than the others

I have seen no evidence to suggest this fella is one of their best players.

Marmite player according to some Swindon fans

One could argue that we should trust Wilsons judgement. I'm reserving my judgement tho. He's done nothing in the last 10 years to convince me he should be running our team.

Regards Jean-Francois, we have to wait and see and give him a chance.

The "BBB's" have started! :o

Sorry, but I do not see why that is a better analogy. We are in League One and are signing a player who played in League One last season. It is therefore fair to equate this to a Premiership team raiding a recently relegated Championship team. What relevance Kokluk has to this is beyond me.

I think he meant it would be like WHam buying Kozzy from us.

Reading the bits and bobs about JFL, his stats, write-ups, I'd say a Chumpionship team coming in for Ched is a fair analogy which is odds on you'd have thought.
