A number of our fans seem to be pissing their pants with excitement at the prospect of Miller coming back and I'm struggling to jump on the bandwagon. (Much like I was completely baffled by any euphoria surrounding Weir's appointment. On the contrary, I was disappointed we had gone for an untried coach when we needed almost guaranteed success due to the current dire situation.)
Miller did ok for us when he was in the team, but we are talking about yet another player that it is very unlikely will fit into our system. He played well up front with Porter, but he is not a lone striker. He isn't strong enough, skilful enough or quick enough for this role in my view. He is a goal poacher with decent positioning and finishing. A "box player" if you will. We don't create enough chances for this type of player as we rarely get the ball in the box (the opposition's box that is).
I am concerned it is another case of somebody getting a lot better in people's minds when they are absent. I would imagine Crewe fans would find our excitement and anticipation pertaining to his return slightly amusing as well. After all, his career goals per game ratio (from Soccerbase) is a measly 0.24 goals per game. This, to me, isn't saviour material.
Again, please Mr. Miller, feel free to prove me wrong.
