It's a worry and perhaps it speaks volumes that we have no obvious candidates for captain.

Maybe we saw enough know-how and authority in Coutts who clearly talked to colleagues throughout games, but his place in the side is not guaranteed. Doyle was so impressed with him in training.

Basham is not a "talker".

Brayford has a delayed start to the season but has to be the favourite for the job. Is he a good leader? I'd guess he is.

Howard was skipper a couple of times but naah.

Collins is a leader but I doubt if he'll be in any season-long plan.

If Collins is captain I'll be very surprised, not a leader, not much of a man and barely a footballer. After last seasons debacle I'd rather people that lack commitment and can't take criticism are out of our club.

I'm sure Brayford will be club captain, but in his absence I'd say it'll be basham

Was Shaun Murphy ever captain?

Murphy was definitely captain for a while. I remember at one point Warnock took the captaincy off him because Murphy kept losing his man at corners having already been warned about it.
