Didn't some United nutters once throw acid at them? Or was that someone else?

The beret thing made me think of him. Didn't the Eckington Blades wear them?

My old man was thrown out of Maine Rd back in the 70's for fighting, he managed to get back in, trying to find his mates he was spotted by the lads he'd been fighting with and got a bit of a pasting, plus slashed with a Stanley knife, cut his ear lobe in half but lucky no permenant damage was done.By all accounts running on the pitch was probably safer than dodging the milk bottles being cobbed at you from the Citeh fans.
I didn't realise it was boxing day 72 when I went to Liverpool, all I remember is we had the shittiest coach in the SUT fleet which took forever to get over Woodhead ............... never seen a coach empty so quick when we stopped at some traffic lights in Glossop, someone had spotted some public toilets which were not quite big enough to take two coach loads never mind one, must have been nearly 100 Unitedites pissing in the street to the horror of the locals.October 1971 Blades 1 (TC) Liverpool 1 (Keegan)

Worst football violence I ever witnessed was at maine Rd ,but didn't involve Utd ,it was 5th round of the cup in 1973 ,Man city v Sunderland ,the year they won the cup. I went with a relation and it was horrific ,thousands locked out and everyone kicking shit out of each other. I have an image in my mind that I can still of a copper steaming down the road on a horse dragging a Sunderland fan by his hair. The worst with Utd was probably at Hull ,we went on the 9 oclock train on a Saturday morning and by 12 the word had gone out ,the city centre was mayhem for an hour or so. Stoke ,Huddersfield , Bristol and Bolton were always eventful too.My old man was thrown out of Maine Rd back in the 70's for fighting, he managed to get back in, trying to find his mates he was spotted by the lads he'd been fighting with and got a bit of a pasting, plus slashed with a Stanley knife, cut his ear lobe in half but lucky no permenant damage was done.

Will we ever get those days back???
I was at Anfield for that game in early 1972. We went over from Sheffield on the football special and as it pulled into the station we were jumped on by a large band of scousers, some armed with knives. One Blade got stabbed and there was blood everywhere. No sign of police or station staff, horrible start to a very unpleasant day out and the commentators, then as now, were all saying what fantastic fans Liverpool had.
Liverpool " fans " are the lowest of the low . They're even lower that the Yams Yams when it's comes to acting the cunt .
The second leg of the Worthington cup semi final speaks volumes . A large group of Blades were in touch with their Liverpool counterparts via a well known local intermediary . Did the scousers go to the area they were requested to go to ? No . They opted to smash a pub up close to the ground full of families instead . Greatest fans around ...... ar , oreight
Never had problems at Everton though .

I guess that's why I don't remember it as being Boxing day, Thinking about it it must have been the 5-0 in sept 72 that I witnessed, probably 3-0 at half time.Boxing Day 1972 was a home game.
Didn't some united fans once let loose a live pig outside Hillsborough?
If that was the night game, Monday I think, I was on the Brentford end with a load of other Blades, we got escorted off at HT and walk across the pitch. Lots of trouble after the game.another story about a lone fan on home teams kop , dont no if this is a myth in 1979 we played brentford the day the coaches got called back we had a fan called pea brain and he went on there kop shouting does anyone want to join the steve conroy fan club conroy was our goalkeeper for all you younguns
My dad was banned from Maine Road for running onto the pitch with a Blades flag prior to a match some time in the seventies.
This generation will be telling their kids about the time they squirted some ketchup in the concourse at Rochdale in 2015....
I lived 1 mile from Maine Road, we played Citeh one Saturday after L'pool fans had run riot outside Maine Road on the preceding Tuesday. As a result, the Peelers, were determined that Blades fans wouldn't copy the Scousers so they forced all Blades after the match onto buses immediately outside the turnstiles. As a result me and our Gert were taken onto the platform at Picaddily station and the police tried to force us onto the train back to Sheffield. We had to catch a bus the 4 miles back to Rusholm
How we laughed. You had no rights as a football in those days, early 80s I think
Has his ear lobe grown back then?My old man was slashed with a Stanley knife, cut his ear lobe in half but lucky no permenant damage was done.
