Who to bring in.......

What positions do we need and who should we bring in to them positions?

I feel we need proper cover at right back, Del seems to be losing quite a bit of form to be honest, and for this reason we need a new/back up for RB.

Looking at Sky Sports, Stephen Carr is available from Newcastle. A nice solid RB. People will say Halls, but I don't see him being able to make the grade.

We need a new CM to partner Gary Speed, however this may not be that essential if we are to bring Hendrie back and he performs the way most of us expected originally. Alternatively Mr Howard from Barnsley.

RM is another position we need, and for this we should look to be signing Cotterill..... I wasn't impressed when he first joined but he has swayed me enough to believe that he could have a good future for us if signed. However I wouldn't go over £1.5 million for him. Altough I do like Carney..... (yes I know I said to get rid in another thread, but that is because he doesn't seem to be getting a look in for one reason or another, so no point keeping a player who isn't going to play)

CB, Killa is a cert for me, but I just feel myself losing confidence in Morgs. Lucky is set to leave, and Ehigou isn't much of a long term replacement. So for me Darren Purse would be a rock and would compliment Killa well.

4 positions I believe that need improving to be honest. But as you can see, I don't think there is that much wrong with what we currently have.

I think the team should be looking somewhere along the lines of

Kenny

Del/New RB - Killa - Morgan/New CB - Naysmith

Cotterill/Carney - Speed - Howard/Hendrie - SQuinn/Armstrong

Stead - Beattie

I Agree, we need more cover at the back. Right back, Carr would be a good signing but we are more likely to get Halls on a free. Center back, Darren Purse, Gareth McAuley, Greg Halford are realistic targets.

A right winger, Cotterill, Martin, Halmosi, or even Frack Songo'o......

But i think we need a new striker to partner Beatts, like a Billy Sharp type of player, but better I wouldnt mind Matty Fryatt from Leicester, now they've gone down he will be avalible for a cut price fee. Nicky Maynard from Crewe, Andy Gray anyone, supposedly unsettled at Charlton...

we dont need martain, hes got abit of skill and pace but thats about it. Compare him to cotterill who puts great balls into the box hes nothing. Why waste money on a frill player when we need the main team strengthening first?

This is what I mean, if we gave him a bit of a run in the team I think we wouldn't need to sign a new midfielder.

He's never been given any run in the team, and when he was it was under Robbo.

However, this isn't the thread for discussing this I can bring the other one back up though,

so what if its under robbo? if he wants first team football he'd try his hardest and look interested and warrent another chance. no interest shows means no run in the team, simple!

back on topic, we need a CB and a creative CM. Danny murphy? doubt we'd get him like.

i think we should definately sign cotteril and halls as i think there both good players, i think webber still has a part to play and huckerby figure could be brought in

my ideal team for next season would be

Cotteril - Huckerby - Speed - Squinny

A couple of goals against the pigs might change your mind on that one.

I too have taken a distinct dislike to him following his behaviour in games against us but i also know that he has always caused us problems in said games.

If he can be brought in for an average wage then i would be happy to see him signed; if he wants to be a top earner then i wouldn't bother.

He has already said that he doesn't want to join a championship club so it may be a none starter anyway.

The problem is, 9 times out of 10 he tries really hard, but now the other teams are doing their homework, and now sticking 2 men on him, he's a great winger, but not that great, sometimes he can hold 2 off mind.

I agree about Hendrie, he is a top player when he's interested. Very similar to Tonge though, in my book. The difference is, Tonge is in form at BL, young, loyal, doesn't act up, isn't on the salary that Hendrie is on and works well with Blackie.

I don't disagree he has improved, because he really has. But I don't think he has improved to a standard which is required.

As for his wages...... well I can imagine Tonge being on par with him to be honest.

Tonge has done the most fouls with 61. I find this hard to believe as Tonge never goes in for a proper challenge.

Very much a Jon Stead kind of player but with pace in abundance.

Not a regular in the team so wouldnt be expensive

i think if your looking at players who dont regulary get in the starting 11 at there clubs, you cant look any lower than the prem, cos surely anyone else is not going to be as good as what we already have, if they were, then they would have been playing week in week out for there team
