The only loan player I would try to keep is Hendo, harsh on the others but we need better than what we already have and unfortunately they are not.

But we need new seats on the kop

Some really tough decisions need to be made. If u can achieve what we have with nowt, giving CW cash means anything is possible. Remember when Leicester won the Premier league.

Shit thread...why would anyone even think about talking about getting rid of people at the current time...hope your employers and customers comment on social media about getting rid of your jobs. Have a bit of respect for what the squad have achieved. For me, they can all have a run out in the premier league for what they have done for us, and if we get relegated, keep hold of Wilder and we would be back soon enough. Park this shit please.

Football fans talking about football related matters on a football forum! Whatever next?

KEEP THEM ALL

And then add Abraham, Grealish, James, Maupay, Flint, McGinn and Mings.

That should just about do it :p:p:p

Got my own thoughts but no need for this for the next couple of weeks. Keep in mind though that when loan players go back we have a very small squad on relatively low wages so I'd imagine we have room for a few additions before offloading anyone who's been regularly involved in the first team.

Four players that have been instrumental in getting us promoted, three of which have made the journey from League One.

Not to be mention one of them now confirmed as a genuine club legend.

F**k me. I hope they don’t read this forum.

You’re correct. Nearly all of this squad will now have a very special place in all of our hearts for their achievements.

However, to take the next steps we will need to keep improving. Unfortunately, in order to do so, some tough decisions will have to be taken.

I see Basham as being a great utility man for us, covering a lot of positions and coming in and doing specific roles as / when required (maybe man marking an opposition threat like Montgomery occasionally did to great effect).

Baldock has a great engine and his defensive work is solid. However, we’re not going to have as many attacking opportunities next season and we need our delivery to be spot on when we’ve worked ourselves into a strong position.

Stevens, on the left, is doing this for us now, but I’ve lost count of the amount of times this season I heard / read “if only we could merge the abilities of Baldock & Freeman.” Maybe we should invest in someone that has both strengths.

Mark Duffy - I think we tried to upgrade with Kieran Dowell this season but it didn’t really work. Duffy was excellent. I think he’d be excellent in the division above too, but we know his limitations in terms of game time. I also worry about whether or not we’ll be overrun a little in midfield at times with himself & Norwood in there. I think a younger, more athletic Duffy may be required for a lot of games.

Billy Sharp - Club legend. He’s done unbelievable things for us this season. His goal scoring ability is incredible. But he is still a player that needs a lot of service to make things happen. In the Prem he will be likely surviving on scraps. I think it would be unwise to expect him to be able to contribute anything like what he was able to in the Championship. I would never back against him, but we should definitely plan for it.

Not quite, we have plenty of players that have been out on loan and still under contract that many won't even have given a thought to. The likes of Holmes, Carruthers, Wright, Lafferty etc.

Pretty much spot on.

Well they're not "regularly involved in the first team" are they.

I get what you’re saying but I think they all deserve a chance to initially prove themselves in the PL before we talk about replacing them.

I remember, maybe last season, an interview with Wilder saying that Bournemouth are the example he wanted to follow. This is due to the many of their players coming up the divisions with them. Who’s to say the likes of Baldock and Basham can’t do it with us? They’ve been promoted from this division for a reason.

I agree with Duffy and it’s the one position I think we should go out and spend big in, but Duffy definitely deserves his chance to be in and around the team.

As for Billy, it’d be unwise to write him off, like many did when we came up from L1. He’s in the best physical shape of his life and will want to do the business for us in the PL more than anyone else. Whilst I agree we need to be planning a long-term replacement, think of Glen Murray still banging them in for Brighton. The goal posts never change at any level.

CW alluded to it in a recent interview,he's got some very difficult decision's to make in the coming month,it's the most brutal part of the job,but he has also said there's no room for sentiment in football
It's a tough call
Even billy mentioned in a recent interview that players are expected to be brought in. Even strikers.
He knows the score.
