This time the "bad" is from the manager, the tactics he wants to play are not working and you can argue they are just wrong for this league. Need to be more direct, teams under-pressure in this league buckle all the time but we rather just play it slow.

The Manager but ultimately the board. Let things get that bad in our fall from PL to 3 seasons in L1 no one would want to manage the poison chalice. Then a "big name" gets the sack just down the road and they jumped in.

McCabe relished in it before NC was confirmed saying the fans would know we meant business when the name was announced (no doubt a relief after his tortured unveiling of Wilson) .

Unfortunately he is only a name, his dad's name, there the pedigree ends! They thought they were buying his dad's sucess but in reality they were buying a nice guy who was an average player and who had a famous dad.

Question is how long before they realise it and find and back a real talent not just a gimmick?

A tad harsh 56 but I take your point.

Some managers like Blackwell and Warnock, or Tony Pulis a couple of levels up, do well when the chips are down, fighting against the odds and creating a difficult team to beat but when it comes to taking the initiative and forcing the play, don't do as well and their teams struggle. I have no idea why Clough and his team can't seem to replicate the level of 'success' we had last season under him and it's not all down to the loss of 2 or 3 key players.

We've been in a position 2 or 3 times this season where we've consolidated and then failed to kick on and yes, ultimately, the manager will carry the can. Whether the Board have seen enough and are confident enough that we are still re-building and improving, that is the question and it's getting more difficult to back that one up.

Nail on head Jim Chimmerney do we want a manager that just consolidates like he did with Derby?
Yes my asses ent of him as a manager might be a tad harsh but I think it's factually correct! That said he's a nice guy and very credible by his name and on camera presence. Question is do we want to be the giant killers every season or one of the Giants?

We play better against better teams because they give us more space but we struggle against teams who just put players behind the ball and say' come on then'. That's the annoying thing because we'd probably do OK in the Chumpionship with a couple of key additions.

Trouble is, we're not there and Clough is not showing, at the moment, that he knows how to get us there. He knows we can't compete physically, he knows we're lacking in defence and haven't kept a clean sheet for donkey's yet we still play the same way week in week out.

Agreed, but what confuses me is how can we buy so many players, have a squad of 41 but have a lack of strikers and central defenders?
