I don't think I'd have predicted Chris Wilder would be a great manager when he was our player, but I was confident Chris Morgan would be.
Of our current squad, I think Billy has what it takes to be a manager, maybe even for us. Richard Stearman seems quite sensible and John Fleck could be a hard man manager in the making. Apart from those three I can't really see many others making it. But if Joey Barton can make a success of it anyone can!

Duffy has a background in coaching and (if I remember right) in Danny Hall's book about Wilder, Duffy mentions ambitions of going into management. Seems like he's got a good football brain and could make a good go of it.

Was pondering this very same question myself just yesterday.

Agree regarding Billy and I could also see Coutts, Fleck, Wright, Stearman and Baldock handling themselves pretty well as 'The Gaffer'.

I think Duffy, Bash and Leon would suit the number two or coaching roles.

Jake Wright, small lower league clubs. Henderson, for his motivational skills.
Edit: 10p beat me to it.

Stearmany will be the chief executive.

That’s a difficult question. We only ever get to see snapshots of their personality and it takes a reasonable amount of intelligence, determination, leadership and ambition. They’ll also need to have strong networks in the game.

How many of our ex players have made it in management?

Not many!

Wilder is an exception.

Jimmy Hagan made it, though that was a year or two ago...

Coutts for me is the obvious standout.

In fact there's an interview with Billy currently on the Blades YouTube page which covers this exact question

Edit: Rodley has it above

I think a lot of them could be assistant managers/coaches.

Basham, Wright, Stearman, Fleck, Lundstram, Norwood, Coutts, Duffy and Sharp for starters.

Probably indicates we have a decent group.

Above all, I fancy Duffy to be a really good coach.

I can see Billy Sharp in 15yrs being the new chris wilder. In 2033 he'll be 1st team coach being groomed to take over when wilder in his 18th yr in charge retires

I think Chris Wilder managed/coached a Sunday league side when he played with us.

How about Sabella?

Coutts and Wright the standouts for me.

Billy and Duffy will make excellent coaches, could see Billy being a good fit for a lead role in the academy/U23s actually.
