Whiteman

Players have gone into the Championship and done well with less experience and appearances than Whiteman under their belt.

Players have also gone into the Championship and done badly with more experience and appearances than Whiteman under their belt.

He intends to use Brooks far more than he would Whiteman.

Apart from league cup cameos you won't see much of Brooks before Christmas. It would have been better letting him play at Chesterfield rather than sitting on the bench here. That's if you follow the same logic for justifying Whiteman staying at Doncaster.

That's just an assumption, isn't it?

Backed up by having seen him play recently, and also the fact he was in our squad for the first game. Who's seen Whiteman play recently?

But plenty have done well. So his number of appearances obviously can't be used to prove that he can't be ready.

And others have thrived with less. Walker/Naughton anyone. You'll never know unless you give them a try, they're not exactly unknown quantities.

The same logic doesn't apply as he is a completely different sort of player. He has potential game changing abilities that probably no-one else at the Lane has, including the senior pros.

Horses for courses and all that.

Perhaps they are better players? Whiteman is the latest "next big thing" for the Bladey Boybanders. In that, he follows in the footsteps of greats like Young Joe, De Juve, Calamity George and Little Louis.

He may well be a very good player in the making. He did nothing in his few appearances for us to demonstrate that, but he was still young I suppose (Calamity will be still 'young and learning' when he's 43). A good season at League two Mansfield and a good start at League One Doncaster are very welcome and I wish him well, because I want very good players in our team, but I'm not joining the X-Factor hysteria just yet.

No, it doesn't 'prove' it.

So because two exceptional young players did well 8-9 years ago, we should immediately blood all young players just in case they might be good enough?

FFS, you are going to make me sound like Pinchy here; "Gerramin, gerramallin"

Let's run a professional football team like a Sunday League u-15 outfit. They all pay their subs and the parents turn out every week and take turns in washing the kit. Never mind losing a few points and games. What does that matter:

Givimatry. Givemallafuckintry.

Yet we are scouring the same leagues for players from other clubs who had a good season last season.

Yes. Maybe Tufty and his team have watched them carefully, compared them with Whiteman (who they know well and will have watched regularly whilst out on loan) and decided they have more to offer?

Controversial, I know.

I've seen Whiteman play a lot. He's more of an archetypal box to box midfielder, than a defensive midfield anchorman like Kante, Makelele or Mascherano (at Liverpool). I've seen Southend fans calling Leonard the white Kante, which maybe explains our interest? I'm intrigued by Ferguson playing Whiteman in a more defensive role, and will be watching his progress with interest.

I'd prefer it if you didn't go all Pinchy-like as he's not worth engaging when he starts talking bollocks.

Me too.

I can feel myself climbing up onto that high moral ground and I'm not sure if I can cope with heights like that.

Before I know it, I'll be accusing you of cap doffing and having a Blade's inferiority complex. I'll stop now while there is still a little hope for me.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to Whiteman; you meant Brooks. I agree, on the limited viewing I've had, about his ability.

As to who's seen Whiteman play recently: Tufty and all his trusted coaches and scouts, no doubt.

Ben might very well make it with United. I hope he does. He will if he's good enough. The developing clamour to givimatry (a juvenile outlook on professional football) on the basis of doing well in League Two and a single game at Donny smacks of parochial Bladey Boybanding I'm afraid.

When does he get this 'try'? Is it before, after or simultaneously with Brooks? Who does he replace? Coutts? Fleck? Has he paid his subs? Who's washing the kit this week? When does Little Louis get his next try? He hasn't had one for a while. Fair's fair.

He's not ready for our level yet, which is why Wilder has sent him out on loan. If he thought he was, he would've not agreed to the loan or cancelled it. Brooks situation shows that when they are thought to be ready they will get their chance, even if it means pissing off one of the locals.

The air is very refined up here, but you are showing conspicuous potential. I genuinely believe you have what it takes.

So if I pay my subs and promise to wash my kit, you'll give me a try?

Really looking forward to it.

BTW, if you need any details for the paperwork or stuff, my name is Montgomery.

Can I join too. My name is Phil and I'm from Liverpool.

Great move from CW to send Whiteman to Doncaster and LR to Chesterfield, allows our players to develop and mature in readiness for making our own squad stronger whilst at the same time taking the pressure off them in playing big games when maybe they are not quite ready, develops a local relationship with these clubs that hopefully in future we can use to progress the development of the young players like Jordan Hallam, Harvey Gilmour, Regan Slater, Sam Bomber Graham and a few more which in turn would hopefully ease the pressure on them when they do hopefully pull the shirt on at BDTBL and we have a side with 2 or 3 local lads all Blades giving it the S6 Massive!!!!!!!!!
