You're mixing up your 1-1 draws! The one you remember was the D3 game on 5/4/80. The League cup game with the Curran miss was on 12/8/80. Hatton put us 1-0 up in that one in the first half. Curran's miss was later on that half, but he equalised in the second half.

Indeed. Hatton with a header at the Lane End from a Steve Charles cross i think for the League Cup 2L game. I was positive McPhail scored at the Kop End in the first half at the Easter league game though. I stand corrected. At the second leg league cup tie at the Lane i think i spent most of the second half staring at the wendy fans that were on the Kop 13 yr old wannabe hooligan that i was. They occupied the same part of the Kop for the cup game as they did for the league game although there was less of them. After the game we walked down Shoreham Street and they were escorted down the other road towards the station and when we met at the junction they tried to storm across the road twice but police on horseback and police dogs pushed them back. Just as well as the Blades fans were in pockets but split up disorganised and the Owls were one big mob and full of it and would have scattered us. I went to the 24 bus stop on High Street to catch the bus home to Totley. Totley was mixed Blades and Owls but there was a big half caste Wendy fan wearing his blue and white scarf that lived on the Totley estate where i lived i think his dad was Algerian or Libyan and 'Little Irish' came up the escalator from the Hole in the Road, spotted him, walked up and said 'take yer scarf off'. The Wendy fan was a big lad but he took his scarf off. Little Irish was a nutter basically but he humilated him and i was glad! There was serious animosity back then. I guess it is still there but boy did we have an axe to grind!
