Mine was at Hills********* with an evening kick off about 1994 ish? As ever need darrens help but we went 1 up with a header at the abck post from deane and then they equalised.
Me and me dad got tickets through a contact at Liverpool and he got us on the standing terrace in the corner which was filled with red smoke from flares when we went one up.

I think, cos i was young and couldn't see, that Glyn Hodges possibly sparked David Hirst out with a left hook.

Any more details form you memory boffins? Thanks!

That was 1993, the Wednesday after the Pigs had lost the league cup final. Great goal from Deano.

Superpig Hirst ran 40 yards to chin Hodges in the fracas that saw Hodges sent off, and the ref did nothing.

United sort of hung on after Deane scored, which happened just before the break, but Warhurst scored with about 20 mins to go.

The best thing that night was when we scored and it became clear that the ends of the North Stand and South Stand closest to Leppings Lane were full of Blades.

Zenith Data Systems Cup, 1988/89 ish ... It was the season we went up and they went down at the end (I think) and Wednesday won 3-2 after extra time. I think we equalised in the last minute to send it to extra time. And although it was my first derby and I am a Blades fan, I will always admire that goal by John Sheridan that won it. Cut in from left dribbling past Blades before curling the ball home from just outside of box - tremendous goal from a very good player (however much I dislike his choice of team).

Next one - and first win - was Whitehouse and Deane. Have still got the video and can remember the commentary perfectly!

Two Wednesday players collide ... Gannon ... Sends Bryson away with the chance to put United in the lead ... Saved by Woods, it's a follow up for WHITEHOUSE ..... Sheffield United take the lead!

I can't think of any United wins over Wednesday on video before the 91 win. I think I am right in saying that the firs time a Sheffield derby was featured in highlights on Match of the Day or the ITV football programme was the 1-1 draw at the Lane in 1980. That being the case, unless there is any old newsreel footage, a "great derby wins" DVD would only have 6 games on it!

1991 2-0
1992 3-1
2001 2-1
2003 3-1
2005 1-0
2006 2-1

Highlights of the 2-2 draw at the sty in Sept 1966 (Woodward and Jones gave us a 2-0 lead before Fantham, I think, and McCalliog pulled the goals back) were shown on ATV (pre YTV) in the next day. I would love to find out if there are any ATV football footage somewhere in the archives

I went to Gerry Young's testimonial at the sty in May 1970. United and Wendy drew 3-3. My first competitive Sheffield derby was the 3-2 win at BDTBL in Oct 1970. Colquhoun and Deaden gave us a 2-0 lead at HT before goals Tommy Craig and Jackie Sinclair equalled the score. John Tudor came on as sub replacing Gil Reece and hit a soft winner through keeper Peter Grummitt's legs. Since then I have missed only two competitive sheffield derbies. The 1-1 draw at BDTBL in April 1980 (I was playing in a football tournament at Kortrijk in Belguim) and the 2-0 defeat at the sty in the League Cup 1st round 1st leg in Aug 1980 (I was playing in a cricket match)

I went to both those 1980 games and the League Cup 1R 2L 1-1 game. That series of games was why Terry Curran could never be a Blade. He was making gestures at the Blades fans in the 2-0 League Cup defeat at the Sty. 1991 game at Bramall Lane was partial revenge and a great day as others have said. When was the last Sheffield derby before the BDM in 1979?

Mine was also a county cup match at hillsbrough, we lost 3-2 if i remember rightly, about 1974 ish.

My first derby was also sept 1966. Fantastic atmosphere, my dad and me sat in the open seats where the teams ran out. Fantastically colourfull occasion with fans all mixed in. The rivalry was as intense as it is now but without the viciousness. We raced into a 2 goal lead which was pegged back. We won the return fixture with a Bill Punton goal. I also remember the 1970 3-2 win but unlike Tat I recall Eddie Colquhoun scoring an own goal to equalise for the scum. I also recall the 3-2 defeat in the old County Cup.

Happy days

The first one I actually remember was second leg of league cup at the lane, 12th August 1980.

Remember it well as me and my cousin were sat on BLUT in middle of piggies. Remember dancing about when we sored (TK?) singing 1-0, 1-0 and clever twot in front saying '2-1 on aggregate actually'....tosser

Easter Monday 1971 at the sty. 0-0 draw. We had 5 games left (4 home and 1 away). Wendy's manager Derek Dooley dismissed our chances of getting promotion. Less than 3 weeks later he was made to eat his own words!

It was Bob Hatton who gave us an early lead in the 2nd leg with a header at the Lane end. I think Curran equalised in the 2nd half to make it 3-1 to them on aggregate

It was my first one, and if possible a worse experience than yours. I was sat in the North stand (I think it is, the one opposite the tunnel etc) with all these piggies. Me and my dad couldn't get tickets and a friend said he'd get some, only he didn't tell us it was with him and his piggies mates. We were going really well at the time and they were struggling a bit. They were shitting themselves about the game and we were a little bit too cocky. After every goal, they gave us the big one, and you're right Camden school was hell for the rest of that season. It scarred me for life, never got over it and never will until we stick it to them in a similar way :(

Having said that Bobby Davison did help with the recovery process a few years later :D

Yeah we were too cocky. The 'Boxing Day Massacre' chant actually preceded the game and was used by both sets of fans in the lead up to Xmas. I remember our home match against Southend preceding the Boxing Day fixture in which the Kop was singing Boxing Day Massacre. Incidentally I remember John Matthews scoring with a thunderbolt free kick from outside the box at the Lane End in a 2-0 win in that game which only added to our confidence. I was positive victory at the Sty would follow. Only when I got to Hillsborough did any inkling of doubt set in. We were on the corner of their Kop and South Stand and ensconced in a sea of blue and white. I think most Unitedites must have approached from the other side of the ground. All i could see was blue and white and the Wendys were all 'Singing the Blues'...that was their anthem back then. They sang it all the time. Which is why the 'Swinging a Pig' riposte was such a good one but that didn't come until much later. Anyway we walked past their Kop and rear of their South Stand and i could see the porcine herds massed on their East Bank. That's when i started thinking what if they win! All the piggies seemed well up for it and boisterous. We were vocal but a bit less so. It was their day really. Nuff said. I hoped the return match at Easter would see us take revenge. But i think they were on a roll by then and we were lacking confidence. I didn't enjoy that match either but at least we scraped a draw. Like you say I don't think we have fully taken revenge for that day yet. But we will surely do so. Play Off final at Wembley this season perhaps...! :-)

Did a bit of research and the preceding League fixture before BDM was in April 1971. An Easter Monday fixture at Hillsborough which finished 0-0 in front of 47,406. Before Xmas that season we played them at Bramall Lane on Oct 3 and won 3-2 (Coloquhoun, Dearden, Tudor) in front of 39,983. What a game that must have been. This was in Division Two and we got promoted that season finishing second to Leicester City. Some of the attendances are eye catching. Div 2 remember. Over 40,000 at home to Hull in a 1-2 defeat in March. Nearly 31,000 against Luton in a 2-1 win. Nearly 32,000 against Leicester in a 2.1 win. 38,000 against Watford won 3.0 and 42,963 against Cardiff in that 5-1 win that is ranked by many of the older contributors as their all time favourite game. After that season we only played the Pigs in friendlies, County Cup matches and Benefit Games that drew poor crowds. Until we were both in Div 3 in 1979.

Though Curran got Wednesday' equaliser in that 1-1 draw, I will always remember his miss at the Kop end in that game. He was put clean through, Derek Richardson came out and Curran took the ball round him leaving him facing an open goal from about 10 yards out (though Peters had got back on the line). Much to the hilarity of the Kop he put the ball over the bar!

I was in with the Blades in the North stand :D poor effort by he wendys to fill their gound as per.

Camden I was at every one of those games

Boxing day 1979, truly awful, and I have nightmares about it. I was on 'their' Kop with my Wednesday supporting friends, I feel sick just thinking about it all now. Yuk Yuk

That stirs a memory. Both goals were scored in the first half if I remember correctly. McPhail scored for us in front of the Kop with a scrambled effort that he prodded over the line (i think). Curran equalised with his wonder strike from near the sideline. Wednesday were definitely in the ascendancy back then. There fans filled half of John Street and part of the South Stand as well as having all the Lane End of course and there were hundreds of them on our Kop too. Also some of them had broken into Bramall Lane overnight and painted a massive Owl on the pitch or something like that. The outlines were still barely visible when the match kicked off despite the best efforts of ground staff to erase it completely. I was stood above the white wall for the game with my father but i also remember watching it on MoTD that night. Jimmy Hill reported with a grim face before they showed the highlights that there had been 42 arrests and 1 stabbing at the game. Most of that was due to the trouble on the Kop with the 'Barmy Army' trying to get at the Wednesday fans.

Boxing day for me too. In fact it was my first ever match and so coming from the north of Sheffield i don't know why i plummped for the Blades. After the game all our school became pigs apart from a select few of us who stayed loyal. We need to spank them this time so as the kids will do the opposite.
I sat in their north stand for the game with my piggy relatives.

The one we all want to forget.

Amen to that Brother Muttley...

No matter how many times we beat them, and how far we are ahead of them in every respect, for Blades of a certain age that day will remain as an indelible scar on our memories.

My first was the League Cup game when we lost 3-2 at their place. We were 3rd div and they were 2nd Div...gave a really good account of ourselves. Sat in the Cantilever stand with my Uncle who was a Piggy for the day (Scottish Rangers fan).

Remember getting a few clips for cheering when we scored! I was about 12!! Probably why I don't like em much!

UTB

Mine was the 0-0 at their place leading up to promotion in 1971. Names like Predergast Potts Craig Grummit Mobley and Rodriguez come to mind but we were so much better than them. Plenty of Monday morning arguements about the best team the following Monday morning at Carterknowle School.

We4 were winning 1-0 at HT, Mcphail converting a rebound off the post in front of me in the BLUT. Currans equaliser was also in front of me in the 2nd half, Terry Poole in the goal for us was otherwise superb.

December 3rd (?) 2005.

It was the 1st time we'd played them in a few years, Warnock was flirting with the Pompey managers job, I travelled down on the friday, with no ticket, My uncle managed to get me one but i'd have to meet him outside the ground at around 2:45.

Go down to the ground "meet me at the petrol station" what a brilliant spot surely there would be no police or pigs about or any hint of it kicking off.

Whilst waiting to get my ticket, some kind of pig mob surrounded by coppers appeared, which attracted a lot of attention from Utd fans, which brought out scenes of burger van accessories being thrown in the air, and pretty much anything else you could imagine.

Anyway i got my ticket, aF THE back of the kop. I remember the 1st half was ALL United, how we never went in 3-0 up i don't know! they just could not live with our 4-3-3 with a front 3 of Kabba Webber and Shipperley. Then Quinn famously scored and one moment I have never forgotten was when 25,000 Blades all sang "Sheffield Wednesday's fucked it up again" It was deafening.

You're mixing up your 1-1 draws! The one you remember was the D3 game on 5/4/80. The League cup game with the Curran miss was on 12/8/80. Hatton put us 1-0 up in that one in the first half. Curran's miss was later on that half, but he equalised in the second half.
