Which two teams will be there in May?

I think it will be a three horse race to the very end of the season, and odds are whichever one of the theee finishes third will then get robbed of promotion in the play offs by some team that has hung around mid table until finding a bit of form in March.

That's my belief / fear as well.

Interesting that the op hasn't replied to my question regarding admin.

Fed up of clubs that cheat the system.

I hope that they go into admin before the end of the season.

They will find a way to cheat them selves out any penalty though im sure.

Don't think there will be much between the top 3 sides now come the end of the season. My head says we will finish 2nd behind Bolton.
I watched Bolton against Gillingham and was really impressed by them, although not sure if Gillingham were just crap.
Vela, Clough, Ameobi even the washing machine looked good.
I guess it will all come down to who has the best transfer window buying and selling.
Luck with injuries will also play a part.

We're the best team in the division by a long way, but we're Sheffield United, so we'll finish 3rd and then lose in the play offs.

Today's a big day for Scunthorpe. If they lose it will surely represent the end of their excellent form this season, as well as further propelling Peterborough towards the top two - they shouldn't be underestimated.

Most of the time we don't look like winning we win, so I think we have a good chance to finish top. There are far too many variables to make a confident prediction, though. If Sharp was injured for a significant amount of time it'd be disastrous.

Threads like this normally come back with an epic bump at the end of the season but I still can't resist. We're going to piss it! Blades top and Scunny 2nd.

Top 2 will be anyone from Blades, Bolton, Scunny, Posh or Rochdale.

As folks are saying, for us it hinges on February - Posh away, Bolton and Scunny home and then first weekend in March Rochdale away, which will be a very tough period.

talking to a rochdale fan yesterday ,he reckons its us and bolton for top 2 .cup games could be no good for them but but badly need the cash but still a top 6 finish

I've been expecting you.
7 weeks ago the Bradford representative arrived asking the same question, since then their form has been W1 D4 L2. They are dying on their feet.
The circle is now complete and your arrival has condemned your team to the same fate.

Send for the Scunthorpe rep.

We won't go into admin, Chairman told the fans we don't need to sell as finances are in good shape , could of course be utter bollox, but he does seem shrewd, so in reply to you, no we won't be cheating the system.

Not cutting it down much ....

Let us just get past January with the family silver still in tact

Agreed ...... I think many of the chaps ( and chapesses ) are getting a bit excitable and maybe prematurely

And whilst I'm personally delighted that for the first time in living memory we have signed a decent player at the start of a transfer window ( I give full credit here where its due to Tufty & the Board ) ........ its also crucial that we don't sell any of the key players.

Its also crucial that we address other areas of the squad if we are indeed to compete for top two places this season.

I do not hold with this popular idea that Scunny will fade ( remember Burton ) and Bolton may well hold onto their influential players, unlike us over the last 5 years.

Let's see what it all looks like at the end of February, when we may get a clearer picture about how "giddy" we should be o_O

I desperately want to believe, to enjoy the ride ........ but having supported the sexy R&W wizards for 52 years now ....... I'm a self-confessed cynical old ba**ard !!! ;)

In the 80-81 season we were no where near relegation at any point. Always around mid table but on the last match of the season for us to be relegated we had to lose to a relegation threatened poor Walsall team and other teams near the bottom had to win or draw.

It was long odds for us to be relegated. Walsall got a dodgy penalty in the 1st half and then deep into injury time we got an even more dodgy penalty. Score and we stay up. Our normal penalty taker John Matthews bottled it and up stopped Don Givens who hit a weak shot that was easily saved.

Meaning we went down to the 4th division with a PLUS goal difference.

We LOVE to defy those odds eh ??!!

You don't want to miss the bus though.............

I'm ready to climb aboard the promotion express now ........ its just that I can't forget how good United are at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and letting the fans down with a massive bump !!! ;)

I can see us finishing top by a clear margin ...... and just as the celebrations are about to begin at BDTBL ........ comes the announcement from a smug faced, grinning Trevor Brooking, that there will be no promotions & relegations between L1 and the championship this year by decree of the FA ........:eek:

I remain a cynical old ba**ard who loves the Blades ...... :)

let us not tempt providence by bigging our team up I've supported united for many a year and I know it's possible for us to fuck things up.
Let's support our team and keep our fingers crossed and when we've made we can shout it from every street corner.
