Exactly what the post title asks, which player over the years were you desperately wanting us to sign?

Going back a few years mine was Andy Johnson during his Palace days, that would have been a good shout.

More recently l was really hoping we would move for Omar Bogle when he was at Grimsby, no reason for it, just had a gut feeling even though I’d never even seen him play. Think he’s not exactly setting the world alight at Donny last l heard about him.

Agree, I remember a night match where we played Palace and Andy Johnson was brilliant. Didn't Johnson score an hatrick against us in that match?
He was like Cristiano Ronaldo in early days playing as a winger. It's rare that I've been so impressed with an opposition player.

Other opposition players that stood out as class whilst playing at Bramall Lane
were Kevin Doyle when we played Reading and Adel Tarabt of QPR who made Chris Morgan look like an idiot.

Going further back to the late 80's another player who stood out and I wanted us to sign was Steve Agnew when we played Barnsley.
Loved how he pulled the strings in midfield and had a lot of skill and dribbling ability..

For me, he had Sheffield United written all over him. An absolute bagsman who we would've adored. He was a striker you looked forward to watching play. Thought we might have had a chance towards the end of his career but in reality we were nowhere near him. I'd have loved to see him in the red & white stripes.
