At the age of 18, I was playing midweek floodlit league, Sunday league, and Rugby on a Saturday.
Of course the pro game is another level completely, but I made up for a lack of talent, with 100% endeavor.

I was a lot like Ben Osborn.

I was moved from full back to midfield because we had excellent but lazy footballers in the middle, and my effort and work rate contributed to our success. I was a typical midfield dynamo. No great skill but always harassed and ran my socks of, allowing real talent to shine.

Who were/are you most like?

Aside from the injuries, I was 100% a Lee Morris up until I was about 25. Rapid left footed winger.

I'm now more like Neil Shipperley, as he is now.

I was a bit like Mcburnie, talented but more interested in drinking and scrapping than putting it in on the pitch. Unlike him, I wasn't rich.

Unfortunately Norwood, Decent right foot, pointed and shouted a lot, rarely tracked but always liked by manager. I also had the ability to wind the fuck up out of those on touchline with the occasional glory ball when a simpler pass may have been more productive.

Oh and I was a fucking baller 😂

Osborn.

We didn’t have a VCR so I read a lot of books

Moose. Overweight, drink too much, often injured
Now? See above

Axel Smeets. Fancied myself as a midfielder, but not that good. Plus I like chips with mayonnaise.

Franz Carr - pacey RW but never got his head up enough and no end product

Jeff Bourne - i had amazing blow dried hair, i always wore a smoking jacket when i got out of the bath and my best mate was called Barry Butlin - seems unbelievable but it was - true

A crap Paul Stancliffe.... without the looks, skill and fame. (p.s. at the time loved Stan the man)

Chris Basham, right sided centre half, top bloke and normally got player of the year ;)

Now I'm playing in over 35's I'm like a mix between Maldini, Vieira and Zidane in their respective primes I'd say. Can put me anywhere and I'll excel.

Probably a right footed Paul Beesley. Brave enough, loved defending, twatted it as far as possible any time it came near me, looked like Bambi on ice but with the odd moment of inspired genius.

I always thought I was Zico. Looking back I think I was more like Ollie Burke, fast as fuck but little else.
