Which away ground made you welcome?

I presumed that alcoblade used a euphemism for untrimmed lady parts

Toy Boy Swissers eh? Was it a bit like the Bobby Goldsboro classic?
You old dog, you ;)

If I remember correctly it was a last dance pull. But having learnt my skills down at the pavilion nightclub, Matlock then it's no surprise she couldn't resist.

Back to footy, I'll throw Brentford in from last season as well.

And not exactly an away match but we got a real Japanese welcome a few weeks back at the Japan v Ghana friendly. I'll dig out the video footage and post it on here next week. I think I put the photos on already.

Barcelona. vs Real Betis. Spanish Super Cup Final 2nd leg at the Nou Camp.

They let me proudly put my Blades flag up inside the ground. Also I watched the Barca players and manager Frank Riykaard leave their hotel close to the ground with about 200 Barca fans and get on the coach. Ronaldinho looked a bit confused when he looked out of the coach window and saw my United flag. He had a gawmy look on his face.

I'd probably echo SwissBlade - Brentford away last season, their fans in the Magpie & Crown graciously let us outsing and outdrink them.

To be fair, Ronaldinho looks permanently confused.

So you grabbed her by the wool at the nape and at the tail then?
Slipped her back legs inside the front of your wellies and wayhey?

A couple from last season were Bury and surprisingly Carlisle.

At Bury everyone involved in the club seemed to be happy in their job and tried to make us feel as welcome as possible, we headed into the social club round the back before the game too.

Carlisle was an odd one, we expected a lot more hostility but we ended up being the only blades in this pub where the landlord was supping beers with us.

Not quite on topic, but if you visit Boston United and mention the Blades you're likely to be given a friendly welcome. Anyone can go into the Pilgrim Lounge (access from the car park) and buy a beer.
There's been a number of Blades connections over the decades. The current captain is Ian Ross, for instance.

Pubs around the ground;

Forest, I was selling Brian Clough Xmas cards in pubs around Trent Bridge and West Bridgeford and though they knew where I was from, made to feel very welcome.

In the ground;

Liverpool, I can always wangle a freebee in the main stand at Anfield and its the only place I remember having good fun banter when the only Blade within 50 yards. Genuinely no malice when I let 'the dogs see the rabbit' and I always do.

Take that.

All friendly at Exeter the other season despite the fact we were probably all miserable because piggy had pipped us.
Drinking in their clubhouse and talking to their fans was good.

Agreed Balham, one of the best ever Blades awaydays for me that was.

Villa fans were great too during our season in the Promised Land. Lost count of the number of their fans wishing us well on staying up after they'd tonked us at their place. Good lads all of them.

When I was about 9 yrs old we played Wolves in a cup tie at Molineux. The turnstile operator said keep yer money son and slip under the barrier. We lost 0-3.

there's a few caravan sites in Lincolnshire that is heavily populated by Sheffielders - lots of filth tho as well!!
Many of em settle in the area - got two uncles that ended up in Tattershall and Coningsby.

Southampton a couple of seasons ago - the match where they had to win to stay up and we had a very slim outside chance of getting into the play offs under Blackwell - the first part of his solo effort as manager.

Me and Kenil'th Junior had a few beers and a meal at a pub a fair distance form St Mary's. Southampton fans we got talking to said parking was a mare near the ground and it would be best to leave the motor there and walk - getting away from the ground even worse. Really friendly people and walked us to the away end.

One of the better "New" grounds I have been to St Mary's
Good game as well with some cracking goals - the result didn't matter for us at the end as we couldn't have made the play offs anyway (thanks Robson you fucker)

I remember that one quite fondly, the atmosphere that day was cracking!
