Which 5 would you keep?

The 5 who are "mentioned" most so far are:

Sharp, Adams, Brayford, Long and Basham.

Not surprisingly perhaps, there are 20+ who have had no "mentions" at all.

People under contract for next season that I would want to keep (ignoring new pros):

Brayford
K Wallace
Basham
Calvert-Lewin
Sharp
Adams
Done
McNulty (if he's under contract - not sure)

People under contract next year that I would be looking to sell/swap/loan:

Reed
Woolford
Coutts

People we have a one year option on 1 would not renew:

McGahey

People out of contract I would offer a new deal to:

Long

I would let everyone else go. All of them are easily replaceable, many of them with better players for less money.
I don't get this with Coutts ,he had 5 good games in a row in which he was the best player in some ,he had a dodgy one against Wigan ,in a team collective dodgy one ,and has not been back in ,I don't understand Adams not playing him and I don't understand why some fans have gone back the other way. He has more actual football ability than anyone else at the club ,why would we want to get rid. Brayford ,Adams and Done out of your list have had a bad season yet ,you would keep those ? I think Coutts will become a real asset especially if we play the 3-5-2 as the right hand player of the middle 3 with Brayford out right as they play well together.

He never scores
He very rarely assists
He's slow
He can't tackle

I'd keep Adams and Done because there is actual end product to their play.

I'd keep Brayford because he's a good player playing poorly. That might change for the better. He's had good seasons, rather than good months or good games like the rest of them.

Adams and Done play a different role to Coutts and both have had arguably worse seasons.

They do.

Done 's been disappointing but Adams has won us points on several occasions. Adams hasn't done bad - remember how little he played last year.

Its academic. Coutts is under contract and will be with us next season as no one will want a midfielder who can't run and can't tackle and hasn't scored for 70 games.

Can't remember seeing Done doing much at all apart from run all over the park - usually minus the ball.

The single exception was at Bristol last year when he scored twice - served by Murphy as I recall.

Matt Done has 11 goals in 24 league starts and 9 sub appearances. That's pretty good.

I know that years of the likes of Monty have conditioned people to think that goals don't matter - look at some people's view of Sammon - or that a player who "only scores goals" is no good but I do not subscribe to this view. Goals are the whole point of the game and we will need the likes of Done, Adams and Sharp to score them if we want to try to go up next year.

This stats business doesn't wear with me at all the only stat that matters is the score, for instance a player missing a one on one where the rebound goes to the scorer becomes an assist, mceveley I believe is our second highest assister and long has a couple. A more interesting one would be our win record when Coutts has started compared with say reed or Baxter or Flynn , I don't know but that would be more useful.

If you don't score, your best hope is 0-0.

You want a stat? Check out how we do if Billy doesn't score. Someone has to pick up the slack. It won't be the likes of Coutts or Scougall or Flynn. The goals from midfield is pathetic. That's why we need better midfielders - we need end product.

Talking of fans and statistics and results Sitwell, McMahon has 5 goals and 13 assists this season and he was a 'boo boy' with us. Bradford have also better results than us!

I agree ,and Coutts is the only midfielder I would really be looking to keep ,just get 2 more in to compliment him :)
and Woodwardfan ,like I said assists don't bother me they are a shit stat ,bet all his goals were free kicks which is fair enough ,but would you have him back here ,really ? haven't we moved on from dross like him , he was shit when he played here the other week.

Why are people picking Brayford he's had virtually no impact this season. Freeman was one of out better players early in the season far better than Brayford has been.
For me its
Long
Sharp
Adams
Reed
Basham

Adams, Sharp, Brayford + the kids.

Not fussed about anyone else (though would be more pleased with some staying than others).

- Billy - offers goals and hold-up play, also good at crossing
- Done - offers goals, pace and puts pressure on opposition defenders to get rid of the ball
- Harris - best crosser of a ball we have and not the worst defender
- Scougall - actually has an attacking mindset, pace and the ability to beat a man
- Freeman - good carrying the ball forward; offers an attacking that
- McNulty - goals, simple as that
- Brayford - off-form at the moment but he is a good player nonetheless

I'd keep the above and sign some big, strong players who are capable of playing a pass to complement them.

All of the players I mentioned offer something in an attacking sense. If we get some strength, both mental and physical, and defensive sturdiness to go with them, we might actually get somewhere and provide a bit of entertainment whilst we're at it.

Long (purely as back up), Brayford, Sharp and Adams.

All would be on the bench where possible.

Madness

Sharp preferably would be on you're bench?!? Who the hell you expecting us to sign this summer?

I am surprised a few (not that many granted) advocate keeping Basham. He has been non existent in midfield. Does not score, does not set up, does not intimidate and a poor passer. He runs around a lot and is a trier but in reality achieves nothing. We have been overrun all season in midfield where he has been a regular. At the back he is better but is rarely dominant and we still ship goals consistently when he plays there. Problem with him at the back is he is not physically dominant enough so you need another one alongside him but then we have no pace. He is a very ordinary player and for me a mid table League One player.

Coutts argument is redunant for me. He is a decent footballer and could do ok in a 3 etc but he cannot last more than 45 minutes before he is bollocksed. He cannot run and his legs have gone. He is a neat and tidy footballer but as others have said cannot recall more than the odd assist for a goal in 2 seasons. He rarely penetrates past defenders and does not get in the box. All this he is a different type of player does not sit well with me. I expect a midfielder to a) set up things b) break up things c) consistent passer d) score goals e) be an enforcer.

Neither Coutts, Bashm do any of these;

Neither does Reed, Flynn and many other of are average joes. Sadly we are stuck with Coutts, Basham and Reed for another year as noone would want players who in essence offer very little.

We need some players with aggression, mobility, eye for a pass, pace or a goal threat. For me key qualities in any midfield. Not sure we have anyone who can do any of these things really consistently.

I wouldn't keep any of them.
They're all pretty useless.
I don't see any of them making any impact in a league higher than we are in at the moment.

Not one of this sorry lot.

Based on very little, last week v Vale and Saturday really, but Cuvelier offers that, even the goal threat and we can only judge consistency over time. Adkins was talking him up last week, so he presumably rates him.

I'd keep

Sandra, in the office upstairs. She's good. Knows the club.
Chris, the bloke who comes in now and again and looks at the plumbing. Top bloke
Angela in accounts. She's part time because of school hours, but puts in 100%
Derek the cleaner. He was here before John Harris, you know.
Steve and his mate who do the programme advertising. He's a nice bloke and his mate is a 100% Blade.

That's it.
