I think he needs a kick up the arse personally and I don't think nationality or language has anything to do with it at all.
He's repeating here what he showed at Bournemouth. In 3 seasons there he made 58 appearances and scored 3 goals. He couldn't get in the team regularly for whatever reasons, but fitness was clearly an issue for him as we saw when he turned up here at the start of last season.
If I was Wilder I wouldn't be putting an arm round his shoulder. I'd be saying, "right, this is your 4th season at Premier League level. Some players play all their careers and never get that opportunity. It's probably your last chance to make it at this, the top level of league football in this country, if not the world. Up to now you've only showed odd glimpses of what you can do. There's no doubt you've got ability, but for whatever reasons, you haven't been able to apply it consistently. You need to get yourself physically and mentally in good shape to do that - and that's down to you personally, we'll support you as best we can, but it's not the role of the club to sort out your personal issues. We want you to be successful, but if you don't make a positive and sustained impact on the team this season you'll be on your way by Christmas and that chance may well have gone forever. Over to you".
Too harsh?
