i new we wouldn't have the quality of some of the teams in this league but I was expecting our fighting spirit to overcome at least some of that but I haven't seen it in the last 2 games really.

I was expecting a lot more pressing and closing down from us.

Hopefully we will pick it up at home but the last 2 games have been a bit of a damp squib

Expected defeats in the last two, anything else would have been a bonus, the real test for us is how we respond and it is a must that we take points of the teams who'll likely be around us like Barnsley etc..

Roll on saturday

Tonight was the response to boro, need to respond better against Barnsley.

You are aware that we are playing better teams, that by and large are also fitter, faster and stronger than our players, or what they're used to playing against?

It took several games last season for them to be able to close and press for most of the game. I'm hoping we're just slowly getting our fitness levels up to do that. They play direct football, so Cardiff would be a game where our attackers needed to press and prevent balls going forward. Obviously, it didn't happen.

It's a lot harder to play the high press at this level (we tried to do it against Boro and looked exposed) as teams are fitter and more technically gifted. By pressing we can leave gaps. I'm wondering if we're changing the way we play.

Early early days Blades.

Roll on Saturday when we play Cain, Zak and Sam

There just hasn't seemed to be the intensity to our game I was expecting.

I don't think we'll come up against much better opposition than the last 2 but I still feel we've been a bit standoffish. Hopefully we will grow into it more as the season goes on.

Just a bit of constructive criticism no need to log off lads jeez :D

We need to be starting Evans and Brooks satdy i think, hit hard from the start and super sub clarke later in the game, hes playing well but we need to try something different now. We lack stregnth and pace, we all know that, we lack size in midfield and thats hurting our delivery to the front 2, abit for wilder to think about in the next couple of weeks of the window.....

Top Champ teams are faster and stronger with better positioning and organisation...did anyone think this wouldn't be the case?

More fight towards the end tonight. Showed them too much respect and that needs to change. We will get our act together, we haven't turned into a bad team, will take time to adjust. No time for wrist slitting yet.

Have you seen the possession stats? And the shots for that matter.

60% away at a team that has won all 4 games this season

Possession means nothing. It's what you do with it. We'd have it for 10 passes getting nowhere, give it away, ball over top, shot.

And repeat.

Villa had 65% against them and lost 3 0, that's Cardiffs game, I'm not talking about that.

Against Brentford it was backs against the walls defending and attacking with purpose, hopefully it is the high quality of the 2 teams we have just played but it seemed a bit lacklustre at times

Isn't the fight usually in the car park behind the stand nowadays? Keep up.

No they dont. However it's difficult to press when you're in possession
The only stay that people seem to be ignoring is 1 goal in 3 games. I'm not panicking just yet but wilder does need to find a way to get the ball to stick up front If we are to avoid a relegation scrap

Problem is, it's not us asking the questions this season up to now. Instead we're being put on the back foot by better, much bigger & stronger sides (or, in the case of Brentford, a technically much better side). We're not getting time & space to impose ourselves at all.

But in a way, we've faced unique challenges - Brentford one of the very best footballing sides in the division; Boro & Cardiff probably as physical a pair of challenges as we'll face (in the sense of their pressing as well as their size/power).

Let's see what challenge the Dingles provide. Can we get to impose ourselves against (no offence) a weaker side?

Big opportunity for those who haven't been vastly impressive up to now - both fullbacks, both forwards, Fleck, Carruthers.
