Happened to me once when I thought I had lost my dad at Portsmouth in January 1971 outside the ground. Eventually found him about 5 minutes later. Also I thought I had lost my son in the Preston home game in October 2008. There were plenty of vacant seats at the back of the South Stand during that season so my son often sat with his mates there but in that Preston game I was looking behind my back to see if he was still there but I then realised he wasnt sat with his mates, I panicked and ran to the back of the stand to ask his mates where my son had gone to. All shrugged their shoulders so I told the stewards that my son had gone missing. They asked for his name so that they would ask him to report to the stewards in Gangway G. I hadnt realised at the time that my son had decided to sit on one of the vacant seats in the bottom of the stand (he said he had already informed me of this!). When he heard his name over the tannoy and that he was asked to report to the stewards in Gangway G, he feared that something had happened to me. It was such a relief when I saw him in Gangway G!

Hang on hang on… I pointed down to the seats in front, you thought I was pointing to the row in front of you rather than the bottom of the stand!

That one was your fault 😉

It's amazing to think that back in the late 60's about half a dozen of us 6,7,8 year olds would all go the matches together. We all lived on the same street, about a 15/20 minute walk from BDTBL. There was one lad who was about 3 years older than us - so that'd make him around 10. As long as he went with us too, our parents allowed us all to go. Imagine this you youngish parents on here ............ there was violence at virtually every home game back then - no segregation - and we young urchins just mooched along through it all.
