Between 12-14 th will be a good finish , think Southampton could be a surprise package
top 4 writes itself
followed by spuds , Arsenal wolves and Leicester, then our bunch of 4 to 5 clubs
But get another 100 mill under our belts then grow again under Sir Chris and AK

Depends on next signing. If its a biggun we can do what we did last year if not im happy barely staying up.

Fivethirtyeight's quant model has us 13th

40ish point mark as early as possible. I'll rest easy. Gone 14th, hopefully get pelters when we finish a lot higher.

Wilders recruitment is about creating more
If we do that we’ll score more and win more
The defence will be even better than last year with the benefit of prem experience.
It’s 8th or higher for me.

Screenshot_20200912-121012.png My wild prediction. First time I've bothered to do this. Probably never again.

14th ( allowing for a fair run on the injury front ) and a nice run in a cup....sound as fuck ..and more money in the coffers and improve squad again next summer .....

United 1st but I'm not saying which one.

&

United 20th... again I'm not saying which United*;)

*Hopefully L**ds or Wet Spam

Wolves fan here, the average vote of between 12th-14th seems a bit pessimistic to me. You should have finished 6th-7th last season and the final table did a disservice to the team's achievements on the pitch, hence a finish somewhere between 9-11th looks a very realistic outcome this season. The forward line needs improving but Wilder is a smart guy and will no doubt make the best of what he has got again. Speaking with my vast experience of 2 seasons in the Premier, your defence and fighting spirit will keep you well away from any trouble this season.

I went for 15th last season and was pleasantly surprised.... so I have gone for 15th again.

in all reality we could finish anywhere from 10th to 20th.

Gone for 14th. Think the bottom half will be pretty tight & only a few points separating 12-17th. I’d take any of those spots with us being safe with 3 or 4 games to go.

I’d see that as a solid 2nd season, not a step backwards, even after last seasons top half finish.

Interesting you’ve gone for Burnley. It’s almost gone under the radar that they’ve lost players they wouldn’t offer contracts to like Hendrick and Dyche was apparently not happy with the board post lockdown. They’ve stayed in the PL and done quite well for the last couple of seasons but can they continue to sustain that?

I think the science suggests there may be more injuries this season, something I think Wilder is aware of and, combined with the loss of form we suffered at the end of the season, has led him to focus on strengthening the squad, trying to give us greater quality in depth. Conversely, I’m not sure Burnley have done that. A couple of injuries to key players could cost them dearly. I also wonder if Dyche will move this season. Maybe when the managers start getting sacked in November he’ll move to a club like West Ham or Villa, before his stock goes down. He must look at Eddie Howe and think that’s going to be him soon.

I guess we are naturally pessimistic round this way

Burnley absolutely walked through lockdown without even being able to name a full bench and half the team missing
They won't go.down ,even if they lost every game to Xmas dyche would keep them.up

My pennyworth.....................

Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs & Everton all under performed [3 changed managers] & 3 of them spent fortunes over the summer, so I cannot see us getting near the 15 points we took off them collectively. Although Spurs inclusion in the EL will not help them at all.

Newcastle look to have spent well & brought in experience so cannot see them being any easier this season.
Southampton recovered well post December & have a potent attack, so they will be no easier.
Bearing in mind we took no points off these 2 clubs!

Villa look to have spent wisely [Watkins is an unknown] & improved defensively post lock down. So probably improved.

Wolves will still be difficult to beat & will be top half, maybe top 7 again [playing them tomorrow before they get going may help us].

I cannot see Leicester being as good as last year, lost Chilwell & dropped off post lock down dramatically, but still top 8ish, & once again we took no points off them! But once again being in the EL will not help them!

MU were poor early season but improved when Fernandes arrived & will probably strengthen even more [& P Jones will not be playing against us this season sadly], so not much cheer here as they have designs on the top 4 again.

Liverpool & MC are what they are, & a point would be a good show.

But Palace, Brighton, Burnley, & WHU, have spent very little, so I see them as no better than last season possibly worse in some cases, plus Leeds, WBA & Fulham make up the clubs we have the best chance to get points off.

We have strengthened the squad but not the first 11, which is probably good over the season, but offers little difference to our attacking options. Which is the main issue as we all know. There is talk of Brewster from Liverpool, but he scored 12 for Swansea last season, & remember McBurnie scored 20 for them the season before & got 6 last season. I am not convinced he will cut it in the PL, but who knows? But I sense someone will be joining & he could be key signing?

So I predict 12-14th, with some weeks in the bottom 6 [possibly a few in the bottom 3] initially, but post December I think we will come good, gain consistency & pull away from the bottom 6, particularly as 9 of our last 12 games are against teams I would expect us to pick up points from.

Plus if there is any uncertainty by January I expect us to spend some/most/all of the 2021 budget on a £25-30 million striker to get us over the line if necessary!

So I will put my hard hat on as The Vicar's 20-21 season preview is decimated.

Decent analysis that - other than Villa having spent “wisely”. They’ve spent big certainly - but I wouldn’t credit Smith with wisdom ;)

Hadn’t had a proper look at the run-in, you’re right we’ve got a decent run of games.

Every year WaK have improved us and our league position. Why should that change. Most pundits put us 10th or 11th. They always underestimate us. Keep it coming. But for the Covid break we could and should have finished 7th or above. Have the faith. I went for 8th

1. Man City
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. Man Utd

12th - Blades

18th - Brighton
19th - Burnley
20th - West Brom

So far having watched pretty much all the games:

Leicester look weaker, Schmeichel seems to be dipping, they miss Chilwell in my opinion, the replacement scored but he didn't have a good game from the 70 minutes I saw. Madison seems to be a bit of a sicknote.

WBA look weak but not 100% garbage. Like Villa last season without a Grealish, I don't know if they've got an actual striker.

Fulham have no defensive shape and a novice manager, can he sort it? Some decent attacking play but not much experience around the back. Areola might improve them.

Liverpool look ropey as fook, imo they've no chance of retaining the league, they've been sliding for a while.

Leeds can't defend but do get forward quickly, their keeper is an improvement over Casilla, but with the intensity they may struggle to keep playing as they do as they've faded before.

West Ham are in serious danger.

Newcastle look like they could do well, quite robust at the back again, but have added quality attacking players.

Tottenham look no better. Think there's some bad attitudes within the club, think their main stars are fucked off with each other. Still got Dier and Alderweireld as a CB partnership.

Everton look a bit more assured and stronger, but it's not night and day.

I don't think we will replicate last season. But I don't think we will play differently. Other clubs are going to be far better this season with some of the money spent so far, plus teams will learn to play against us. We have made some good signings which I'm happy about however, we have only improved the squad, not the first 11. Hopefully Wilders little smirk means hes happy about this one and its a good forward. 14th IMO.

Where was this « little smirk » ? Want to see it
