Where WERE you when...

1. At home. My mate rang me up in a dreadful rage.
2. In the giant rustbucket stand watching us lose and listening to some dreadful news on my trusty wireless.
3. Crushed into the corner at filbert street seeing virtually nothing of the match. Didn't invade the pitch as I was waiting for other results to come through on my radio (great day indeed).
4. In the South Stand because my mate had done his knee and we sat down. He tried to get to his feet after said goal and promptly howled in pain.
5. On the kop.
6. Broomhill, walking down from work to catch the 51 back to Gleadless Town End and spotted the headline on a billboard. Nearly wept.

Worst one was hearing Speed had died on a Sunday morning drive back from Derbyshire. Turned on 5 live and couldn't work out what the gist of the conversation was. Had to pull over when it dawned. Shocking.

Deane / Fjortoft - on my tea break in a room behind the counter at Barclays Bank on Commercial Street. Read about it in the Sheffield Star. Got a few faxes of the article through that afternoon from weds fans who worked in other branches. That was in the days when fax machines were reliable.

Relegation 1994 - at Stamford Bridge in the top tier of the big stand down the side of the pitch.

Promotion 1990 - on the terrace behind the net struggling to see what was happening. The scramble goal was brilliant, the whole end went up and down about 5 times before going mental. Remember the rumours that someone had chinned Hodge the pig during the pitch invasion after the 4th(?) and worrying that the match would be abandoned.

Edwards 1984 - on the BLUT

Too young for the other two - the 4th Division season is the first one I have any recollection of, can remember my dad filling in all the scores on a big Star wallchart/poster.
