Prior to this being bulit our lowest ever position was eleventh in the 2nd tier.

Since it was built it seems a curse has been put on our club.

Knock the bleeder down and invite Yorkshire CC back asap, you know it makes sense...

Rebuild the cricket pavilion and bring back the bloke with the plate metal numbers for the half time scores.

The Desso pitch and the anniversary shirt complete the 'axis of evil'.o_O

I honestly believe we'd be playing in the Premier League now if this hadn't happened.

Why the fuck couldn't the trial just have been one week later? If we'd beaten MK Dons the day after we would have had one foot firmly in the Championship.

Fair to say it totally broke that season. That said Wilson didn't get his replacement signings correct and that cost us too - we looked clueless tbh.

Or maybe it was "Superblade" Jagielka catching the ball against Wigan and then holding onto it and putting his signature on it just to make sure the ref saw it.

Anyone would think that a big wage offer from another club had come in.

Bring Back Sheffield United Cricket Club,

I'm probably on my own but I think although building the stand put a massive financial strain on the club for a long time, I think a catalogue of poor managerial decisions resulted in us being relegated to the old division 3 in 1979. From what I've read of the players at the time, Kenworthy, Edwards, Currie, Hemsley and Badger in particular - they all point to strange managerial decisions and archaic coaching methods as the causes of the clubs decline. In retrospect, most of Harry Haslams dealings in the transfer market were catastrophic. Sold Edwards, Stainrod and Varadi for peanuts to name three and embarassingly at one point had 3 foreign players on the books of which he could only play 2 - Sabella, De Goey and Pedro Verde.

Maybe but since the "Tevez gate we been cursed but why they cheated the twats !! Ok what if we had Tevez that season? specially when Hulse did'nt play for 2 nd half of season surely we would have stayed up ! Fuck me we battered em at the lane but somehow fucking somehow we still went down ! think we went about 9 clear after that result we about 8 left and that twat scored 10 in 8 ! or was it 12 pts clear ? also may i add 38 pts would normally be enough to survive . UTB.

Warnock should have mown Unsworth down with his car, rather than giving him away on a free to Wigan ;)

Electronic score board is cursed.

Bring back the fella with the black and white wooden score signs that he used to update every 15 minutes propped up against the bottom of the Bramall Lane terrace.

When he picked a new number up and walked to the pigs score the tension was palpable.

The major moment in our spiral to oblivion started the day we hired Bryan Robson, still can't beleive that decision. That was never going to be a success. This appointment followed by some hugely expensive signings set the wheels in motion.

Blackwell getting us to the play off final in 2009 glossed over the mess behind the scenes, if we weren't up shit creek financially then Beattie would never have been sold in the January, by the time we got to wembley the damage had been done behind the scenes.

The following season we had loads of injuries and the selling began.

If McCabe had actually thought about what he was doing when he hired Robson and actually got a decent manager, or even kept Warnock on for another year to steady things we wouldn't have ever ended up in this mess.

Given that we last won the title in 1898 the slide must have started in 1899.
I'm blaming it on the invention of Liquorice allsorts.
The players were obviously tucking into too much of the liquorice after training.

That's a bit of a myth. As has been repeated an nauseum, he signed Beattie (the common consensus on here was that he would "tear a second arsehole in League One"), Hoskins (an experienced forward) and O'Halloran (a promising youngster) to cover the eventuality of Evans going down. Unfortunately Hoskins got injured and the other two turned out to be shit. You can't blame Wilson for that.

Why not? Adkins is getting blamed for signing Woolford and Clough for many signings.
Although I doubt Beattie was actually signed by Wilson.
I do think the team was in shock when Evans went down and this probably affected the MKD result more than his actual absence.

When did we change the club crest to its current one?

I think the new badge was designed by Jimmy Sirrell in the late 1970's. Well we all know what happened from the late 70's onwards.

As a superstitious person with anything 'Blades' the crossed blades on the new badge has always concerned me.

Crossed blades are supposed to represent an argument. McCabe v Warnock, Clough v Collins, Jose v whoever, Brian the Blade v the world. There must be loads more.

Can't blame him for signing shit players?? Who else is held responsible? Hoskins was a perma-crock, O'Halloran completely untested and Beattie - was just really shit. So out of the three he didn't get any of them right!

If you look back to around December 2011, you will see that virtually everyone on here was desperate for Beattie to sign. He had never played below the 2nd tier and everyone thought that getting him to sign for a third tier team was a great coup.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

There were a few dissenting voices, at least. You in fact said he'd probably be unfit, I posted 'thank fuck' when it was erroneously reported that he'd signed for Southampton.
