Where does Billy Sharp rank?

Does anyone have a list of the players who have appeared most times on the pitch at the end of a game, dressed in a suit, to confront an opposition centre back?

It the only one that counts as far as I am concerned. Good effort from Sharp but there is no way his record matches that of Dearden's.
Whilst others were fawning over Currie and Woodward, my hero was Billy. Don't get me wrong, I could see how good Currie and Woody were but I just loved Billy. I was only 13. I think he was so underrated.

It's a short list. Just the one. What a pity that the Wolves player crapped himself at the sight of D'Jaffo approaching.

Why is Keith Edwards 143/144? Is one of his goals dubious?

Edwards (and many people who were there) thought he should have been awarded a goal at Gillingham in 1983-4. League records credited it as an own goal by John Sitton (of Leyton Orient documentary fame). It was reported that Edwards' goalbound shot hit Sitton on one leg, bounced onto his other leg, and dropped over the line.

And yes, Sharp ties Dearden for 21st all time.

Sharp broke his tie with Mick Jones with his 64th league goal for us yesterday, and is now in sole possession of 20th place.

Next target: 67 goals, a total achieved by Colin Morris in the 1980s and Bob Barclay in the 30s.

Sharp now level with Morris.

2007-08: 4
2008-09: 4
2015-16: 21
2016-17: 30
2017-18: 13

Total: 72

I hadn’t realised just how poor those first two seasons were (and I’m pretty sure 08/09 was when he got a perfect hat-trick in the home opener vs QPR). His total this season is over three times either of his equivalent Championship seasons with us.

Not quite at the heights of his Donny years in the Championship (16, 16, 19) but a substantial improvement on his 5 in 35 games with Leeds in his last season here. Not bad at all.

I think the stat is he scored a goal every 175 minutes played this season, so 1 in 2.

Not bad really it.

Clarke scored one every 181 minutes

Billy has proved beyond doubt his knack for goal scoring and simply hasn’t played enough this season. How he hasn’t played one minute against those fuckers across the road this season is baffling, especially the second game, that must really piss him off. I still think he could’ve been the difference that night, a night for me where we missed a big opportunity to put those fuckers in a coffin for an hell of a long time.

It is a bit of an odd one, particularly considering Donaldson’s poorness at home, Wilson’s poorness in general, and Brooks not really offering enough of a goal threat. Whichever way you scrutinise his performances, he is one of our best two strikers (clearly 2nd to Clarke on this season’s showing) and I’ve been amazed to see preferred line-ups on here multiple weeks this season where so many have been keen to see him out of the team. That isn’t to say I think either him or Clarke can keep this up much longer, but for this season I’d have paired both for the whole of the 2nd half of the season tbh.

Whilst I see Billy is a goalscorer and the stats prove it... if he doesn't score, he simply offers nothing. Just my opinion.
