It's a rhetorical question, but where do we actually go from here?

Same old same old etc, but we yet again haven't been pro active with the transfer market, ins or outs. Yeah it may well be a struggle selling players off that are absolute bobbar but our planning is absolutely atrocious.

I was fairly excited for the big change but it was more hope than anything else 🤣

We've gone from looking like we're wanting to play with wingers after signing Donovan, and keeping the 3 behind the striker to selling Brooks to balance our books and now for Hamer to leave 1 week before the season starts. Which then more or less demolishes our formation now.

Do we go back to a back 3 (personally I would atm), but then we lack CBs after chasing someone who we obviously cannot afford without selling more players? No plan B involved after seeing there was/is still good CBs in the free agent market. Missed out on Dael Fry, Adam Webster looking like he's off to West Ham.

The hearings of Seriki not that interested in signing a new deal (could well be a load of crap but who can blame him?)

Yet again the rebuild we was PROMISED. I have to reiterate that, we was promised one. To then signing 2 players, 3 if you count the Jairo Fck up. For the squad to be virtually the same but without 50-60% of our goal contributions is a laugh.

I didn't expect a mass overhaul but I also didn't expect us a starting 11 that all was here last season bar the creativity.

I know we have our hands tied behind our back, but I do feel like this season is going to be like the last, sell Hamer then panic buy in the last week of the window then back to square one.

I've added my starting 11 in the current situation.Screenshot_20260808-090626.webp

I think you are overthinking !
Look again in mid September and then decide if it is the “same old” or not.

I'd argue that side looks a lot more balanced but obviously I'd want Souttar or someone else instead of McGuinness.

Thing is,if we sell Gus we may then be able to afford Souttar?
COH or whoever own us now are skint,or unwilling to invest anymore in us.
We will have to be just a mid table club for the foreseeable future,or they'll have to consider selling the club they (partly)own.
Maybe the Prince might consider turning what they owe him into equity/shares in the club ?He did want to do that when he originally sold us,if my memory serves me right ?

For my part, I wonder whether we will roll over have our bellies tickled for years as we decline like Pigs did, or whether there will be some tipping point when property starts getting damaged and things start getting chucked about.

Baptised for McGuinness

Amazing how we all support and watch the same team. Im with you on that team sorry to the op but my god thats a shit show

My comment wasn’t particularly a dig at the OP really it was more of a dawning of reality that it’s a week to go and that’s still about the best we can do.

We were promised the pre-season to end them all, the right players would be coming in and quickly and for the second consecutive summer we look to be kicking off significantly weaker than we ended the last season

Just thoroughly depressing

I'm comfortable with McGuinness as a back up option, especially in our current financial situation.

We do need a better dominant centre half though and some more pace and athleticism in the team imho if we want to challenge the right side of mid table.

Exactly what I'm saying, going off current team I honestly think that side is the best balanced side, no matter how shambolic it is

Aren’t we expecting Baptiste to start today ?

I’ve not paid too much attention to the friendlies (never do) but I think I’ve seen he’s played in most games (if not all) hasn’t he?

Arblaster has to be in there somewhere,
I think he was beginning to show glimpses of his old self at the end of last season, it'll be a question of confidence and obviously not having a reccuring injury problem.

I am hoping we get 2 or 3 decent loans by the end of August and really target that Bolton home game on the 1st of September.

Anything at all we get from the three tricky looking league games in August, even a point, is a bonus now.

Once again we will have started the season under strength, it is appalling how the club is currently being run.
