Are you more optimistic now about this season or were you more optimistic this time last year about last season??

Personally i was more optimistic this time last season, thought on paper we had a better side. Especially the back 4.

optimistic and cheap as chips don't go .......... mind yer uninterested Mr McCabe don't help.

Last time I was optimistic was in the hour before our final game of the 2006/07 season.

Lesson learned.

Optimistic last season for sure. Still am for this but optimistic in a different way based on my expectations, I'm optimistic we can get a play-off spot whereas I was optimistic we'd go straight up last year.

What's football without optimism?

Luck and sheffield dont go hand in hand,a long hard road lies ahead this season if we dont get a settled team in place.i know last season was poor in every fashion(barring the 3.2 pigs win),poor loan signings, inconsistance followed these,so i would like us to play a settled team for a change, keep the same forwards and get a partnership flourishing(boggy and cressy would be my pick),play the flanks, give teams nil respect(home+away) which blackwell always seems to do always, play attacking football, get the buzz back at utd because to be frank, the atmosphere has been garbage for 3 years.scoring goals wont be a problem this season, wether or not we score more than we concede, thats my main worry.utb

It's hard to be optimistic when we have Blackwell being pessimistic about the loss of Walton. The fuss he's making you'd think we'd built our team around a failed 22 yr old - marker laid down I'd say, or at least the first in a long list of excuses.

Fuck off now, before it's too late again!

Never been less optimistic than I am this season, bottom 3 after first 10 games, shoes off in the car park, home crowds scratching 19K...............................suppose that makes me pesimistic

just posted in another thread - the first 1/2 months are absolutely critical - we need to be shown that Blackwell has both been tasked with changing our style and is capable of it otherwise I'll be happy never to see him at the Lane again. If we persist with such a poor standard of football where a pint of abbot ale starts to give you more joy than 90 minutes of united then it will be a crying shame.

Having a wank whilst thinking of Margaret Thatcher had the potential to give me more joy than I experienced at the Lane last season, so it shouldn't really be hard to improve the experience. Whether or not fuckwit is capable of achieving such a simple task still remains a moot point. We'll see in a few weeks I suppose.

I'm a little confused here, which fuckwit? Blackwell? Cameron?

I'm also confused - did you or didn't you?

:D

LMAO.. i think he was being metaphorical.. (tell me you were).. the last time i was optimistic was one minute after nobson resigned.. i actually advocated blackwells appointment.. ddoooohhh

Having a wank whilst thinking of Margaret Thatcher

Is such a thing even possible? Guess I'll try and find out if she has an open coffin.

Anyway, back to the question.

I was seriously optimistic as I set off for St Andrews 2 years ago. That game and subsequent events mean the only optimism I have is that Hoofy won't be with us long.

Irrespective of the club's position, I find that I start each season in a mood of child-like hope and optimism. Sometimes it has been justified; at other times the feeling has disappeared by the end of August.

It's been that way for over 60 years.

I see no reason not to be optimistic this season.
