Im aware I’m only adding to the negativity on here atm and that similar things have been said, but I need to air my views. Basham works so hard and seems to be a fucking amazing bloke, but lacks the quality needed to play as a defender in our setup, he is a liability regardless of how good he looks running forward, especially seeing as he is incapable of being incisive or shooting at the end of such runs.

Stearman was dependable and showed himself capable of playing a pass last season but is left out.

Lundstram also seems a good character and in my head I find myself making excuses for him, he might not even be a bad player, but with him in the team we don’t perform well. Whatever reason it is we play negatively and shakily whenever he is present, if he is to blame again I don’t know but this is my view.

Clarke has a lot to offer still, and has many good qualities aswell as an amazing record last season, but his untouchable nature does us no favours as we watch McGoldrick make way for Billy despite having a better game and seemingly having more energy than Clarke.

Stevens seems to take the easy route most of the time and has been caught out by more than one player, lafferty should at least be given a chance to show he has something about him.

Lee Evans is hot and cold and perhaps could find his feet but he is running out of time and I fear the jury is already against him.

I have much more to say and am bitterly disappointed in today’s performance but this is just a few talking points, only my opinion and ultimately worth very little.

These are my thoughts from the end of last season aswell as today.

By the way the imaginary line relates to dedication/performance, when does a players personality and ethic become redundant following bad performances?

Bash is a 100% man but should have been this season’s back up for RCB.

Eagan is here to replace Stearman UNLESS we go to a back four then they can play together.

Lundstrum I don’t think is Championship class.

Last season may have been Clarke’s high water mark.

Stevens is not good enough.

Evans is only good enough as a defensive midfield back up.

I think as you progress to higher levels, commitment and desire is considered far less of a valuable commodity, partly because it’s simply taken as a given for top players to have them both automatically, but also because there’s really no accounting for ability. Given the opportunity and fitness, most of us here would run through brick walls for the blades, but at some point that shouldn’t be enough.
