“This is the highpoint, it’s all downhill for the next decade from here”

I bet that same post has been repeated on Owlstalk every weekend for the last 3 years. I suppose they live in hope don't they

He isn't out of pocket by £100m though. No chance. No matter how many accountants on here tell me he is.
But let's assume he is. How bad must he be to put £100m into a business and gain nothing. Glad he's gone.
I’ve no issue about him using us to increase his profile and promote his businesses. I do have issues with us having to fund Chegdu’s losses, which I recall was something like £2m and I do wonder what other loans were were underwritten by the club or were lent with BL as security.Would it be fair to say Kev's other businesses have very likely made plenty of money out of property and land in Chengdu, Ferenceveros sp? and a few other linked football club locations, - opportunities which he would never have seen without riding on the back of Utd?
I'd like to see someone put a value on that. He's been at United primarily for that very reason. This was also the driver for putting Robson in charge to incease foreign "business appeal" a decision which I'd suggest drove most of the losses Kev's Utd sustained in the subsequent period!
Tin hat on! ;-)

He has. All credit to him. He’s doing all the things that I accurately said he wasn’t when he should have been left out.
Having a view, rightly or wrongly, about a particular player is, I think, rather different to a permanently negative, miserable mindset. There are times when it’s okay to be proud, to be confident, to celebrate how well you are doing rather than ‘calm down’, ‘don’t get carried away’ Right now is one of those times.
I don't have the expertise to forensically unpick the accounts over the last couple of decades to know what McCabe has directly got out of it but there is a potential benefit often overlooked and is hard to quantify and that's the value of any deals done by McCabe's companies that were made possible because he was chairman of United.SUL ( so effectively McCabe/Scarborough )ended up funding Chengdu etc.
Any charges etc against BL will be listed at Companies House on the SUL account.

Would the interest in Chengdu have helped Scarborough Group establish and grow in China and similar the interests in Australia and Hungary?
Nothing wrong in using United to open boardroom doors (surely it raises profile and paves the way for discussions that may not have happened) and no suggestion of wrongdoing but surely owning a football club brings benefits to your businesses and potentially significant ones.

Scarborough were already well established in China. No idea about elsewhere. Fradi appears to have been more to do with land development although they had been Hungarys top club for many years but were in decline.
"He's strictly mediocre mate. He's also too small. But the S2 cognoscenti have made their minds up so he's a must-have and we mustn't miss out..."
I think that’s a bit harsh, Sean. I agree he was rubbish last season and some numpties saw what they wanted to see but he’s doing really well at the moment.
Now we’ve sorted that out all we have to do is persuade Evil Tufty and Inept Knill that our Billy must start every game, ‘cos he’s our favouritist favourite now.
It was your post before we signed him......
He’s done a great deal more for, and spent a great deal more on, our club than you and his other detractors ever will.
The only person who has claimed to have put £100m in is Kev.
l’ve said £60m per the accounts. No doubt some dont accept that. I don’t count the hotel and business centre in that as they aren’t football related but they don’t add up to another £40m anyway.
Yet some still reckon he’s made a profit.
£60m over 20 years is £5m a year. Granted it will not be that simple but for arguments sake, let's assume that's the input.
£5m a year. Every year. That includes Premier league parachutes and West Ham money. Where did he throw it all? Heavens knows it wasn't at the playing squad.
