whats our aim

I really wanted us to chase down Burnley too. But I simply can’t see where we’re gonna get that sort of form from. If we do go up in second, it’ll be an absolute bum squeaker.

We should have been closer to Burnley this season. Maybe the injuries give us something of an excuse. But the time for catching them is gone, though I'm sure that was the players' aim until recently. We just need to get into machine mode like this time 4 years ago and churn out wins every week

Too late to catch Burnley, but that should still be the aim

If you look up there's a better chance of success than if you look down at those behind you

Chasing Burnley provides a no lose situation, panicking about Middlesboro does

so that means they will never lose again
ever
No it doesn't. But... we are 12pts behind them with a game in hand. If we win that we are 9pts behind them.

That means that we need to match their results, but, they need to lose 3 games that we win. So... in 12 games, you need Burnley to lose a quarter of them, at least. i.e. lose more games in their last 12 than they have done in the first 34.

man city were12 points behind liverpool as were man utd behind a seemingly invinceable newcastle

yet if we win at blackburn sat lunch and go 10 points clear same number of games left hundreds of blades will still see us as catchable

WEIRD INNIT

and dont say its 12 v 10 because we can reduce it to 9 winning at burnley

I always come first so will be happy to see us come second

Would be great to catch them but I just don’t see if

I get your point, I really do, but we have to be realistic PL is where the money is and we need that more than the cup.

Agree, don’t think people realise how this club is stood on the precipice of disaster.

We desperately need to be promoted this season otherwise we could easily become another Portsmouth or Derby.

Our aim is to play tottenham,
And then Blackburn....
And then Reading....
And so on and so forth.

And as Ahmedhodzic said himself in his interview, we look no further than the next game. We prepare for that and we look to win it..... then exactly the same approach for the next game.

Who gives a toss about Burnley, Boro or anyone else for that matter? We concentrate on us and winning games of football, the ball is currently in our court.. therefore if we do this successfully, we achieve success at the end of it.

We needn't care less about anyone else but ourselves and our next opponents.

Simple

I'd say survive if we don't go up or get taken over ... hey ho it's the Sheffield United way!

They’ll lose a lot in the PL.

As someone who tries to use stats to back up spurious points a lot you should surely look at 2 losses from 34 games and expect them to lose 1 more between now and the end of the season. We’d need them to lose a lot more than 1 to be able to catch them.

I Don't deny it. But how come we lose 2 together after a long unbeaten run and our fans think we can collapse to not e ven make the play offs

Burnley won't falter ....but United ...nailed on

That's what I never get from so many of our fans

Get 85 points and home and dry. We are a good side, and just need to believe it a bit more.

But if they drew and we won we'd gain two points each time.

If it helps, Sheffield United were three points behind Burnley when the World Cup break happened. If you'd won every game since then, you still wouldn't have caught up. Of course that form won't necessarily continue, but it's not yet showing signs of flopping. (Touch wood.)

You'll keep clear of Middlesbrough. They're no better than you are. I think the Burnley message board has more confidence in your team than you do yourselves. Go on and beat Spurs in the Cup, and we might see you at Wembley again!

Agree with this.
Which is why we need to look to reintegrate the competitive and battle hardened players as soon as they're ready, the likes of; Baldock, Clark, RND (🤞), Fleck etc.
As much as I like Bogle, Lowe, McAtee, I don't think they have the mentality of the above.

I think we've learned that we're not going to blow teams away playing free flowing, very, very fluid football.
It's time to get back to the grind.
