anybody know what the news is with this?

s there some sort of hearing anytime soon? and what will happen afterwards? would you want hm to play for us again?

its the second time this year he's been in a spot of bother, i'm not sure i'd be too unhappy if he left

We were supposed to find out last Monday when there would be developments, there has been no word on it though.

Could do with this being concluded one way or the other ASAP. Hopefully 18th August is D - Day. Apparantly, according to a poster on the other side we've got a deal in place to sign Lonnergan for 2 million which is depending on Paddy's punishment. I think this is why the moves for Macindoe, Smith, O'Toole may have collapsed as we had to shift the funding towards a keeper.

As it stands, I'd be happy to have Bunn on loan for the season and use the potential capital on outfield signings.

I've posted elsewhere that a mate of Paddy's dad who works with me reckons Kenny snr told him Paddy is confident he'll be ok cos he's still got the receipt for the cold remedy he bought.

I know what you're saying, but surely that doesn't actually provide mitigating circumstances other than potentially ignorance? The fact is that he failed the drugs test as the banned substance was in his body - the receipt doesn't prove or disprove that. And playing devil's advocate, if he was taking it deliberately, surely buying some cough mixture with the same banned substance in it could be a not-so-elaborate cover story!

I know it seems very different to some of the rugby players who were banned as they were taking the drug in tablet form prior to games to give them extra energy but surely in this day and age a professional athlete (which incredibly he is!) must know to check any kind of medication before they take it. It's harsh cos I love Paddy to bits but I don't have a lot of sympathy for him here.

I agree with you max, I don't have a lot of sympathy for him either, and I wasn't saying that a receipt was a valid defence. Just posting the info I'd been given, and for what it's worth I love Paddy too.

Aye, it seems to me Paddy is clutching at straws to be honest. I imagine if he was to present this recepit to the FA they will just turn around and say 'so what, you took it from this cough mixture, it's still banned!"

I don't think it was intended to be performance enhancing, I don't think it was sinister or as Warnock would say 'nothing untoward'' but I do think he's been extremely careless and dopey (no pun intended) and will probably get a 6 month ban.

I have been told the club doctor told him he could take the medicine in liquid form ,but they didn't have any so he bought tablets which contain the banned substance (or the other way round).

Paddy hearing 18th August

Apparantly this is when the decision on Bunn will be taken.

However Who would you prefer Paddy or Bunn?

Personally I saw enough of Bunn to think he can do a job for us and thiught his kicking / distribution was better than Paddy's. I'm not bothered what ban the "daft one" gets as we semm to be covered.
