Things aren't so rosey at BDTBL at the moment and i have to ask which direction the club is heading? Every time i seem to pull the website up we are looking to join up with another country to add to the waste of time Chengdu Blades and ferencvaros. The latest country seems to be India, i wish the club would concentrate on the first team and get us out of this hole we seem to be in at the moment, we apparently need investment which doesn't look like happening anytime soon so why don't we tighten our belt off the field and use any spare cash on it or we might find ourselves in the third division with our friends down the road. :(

I used to love watching united and now i am not even looking forward to watching us on the box. We might not have had a great deal of success but in the late 90's early 00's i used to count the days til the next match. Now i watch and listen in fear.

You want them to concentrate on the first team right? Then we need to increase the income of the club, either through investment, or by raising more revenue. Makes sense to be looking abroad to find that cash, as there doesn't appear to be any wealthy British Based business types battering down our door.

No one has any money at the moment i just think we are wasting what little we have.

Nonsense, there's plenty of people who have cash. The difficulty lies with convincing them we're a good investment prospect.

I think that this follows on from Brownie's post "A few home truths". I'll admit that at the end of last season and at times this season United haven't exactly lit up my weekend. However, I think on the pitch is now getting sorted (slowly) and I am less concerned as to which direction we're going in that aspect.

I agree about the link up's. The OS in my mind is about the Sheffield United Football Team, not other business ventures. Its also not about Chengdu, Fradi, Indian Academies or the Aussie team, but we keep hearing about them. I'd prefer the OS to only be for SUFC.

However, I don't think that information about new link ups affects Sheffield United FC, they're run under different sectors of the Sheffield United "Group" and I don't think all these things are harming us.

The fact that we're now crap on the pitch is perhaps coincidental and wheras when we were on the up these link up's seemed to be another string to our bow, they're now perceived as the reason for our demise.

What's happened to our club? It's not our club anymore, it's the moneyed peoples plaything and all about balance sheets and rates of return. Nothing to do with passion, belief, history and especially nothing to do with ordinary local people.

Well said dingledog.
Summat's badly wrong when we're being sold on an idea of global interests, revenue streams etc and not on what the club's really all about.

A few on here (not you High) think Birchy flogging Chelsea was akin to flogging snow to eskimos, but if our very own insolvency wizard can convince anyone to part with serious wedge for an investment in current day SUFC (and by the sounds of it a non equity role) it will be the most brilliant achievement ever in the history of business.

Best bet I can see is McCabe gets most of his loans back via Tevez wedge, takes the hotel and Realty and flogs shares in football club with little or no debt for a quid, to me!

Nowts happened .............the Blades are just making up the numbers as usual........ the lack of ambition at BDTBL over the last 50 years is astonishing.

You would have thought that while its quiet, Foxy would be forging that "Thanks" Button

Much more than a thanks button on my current task list ;)

Plus we'd have to be generating content worthy of thanks! :D

Fantastic Post Dingledog, exactly what's happening put into a few effective words, Top Post

A very true post, but it sadly could have been written about the vast majority of football clubs these days. It's a plaything to the super rich.

At least if United's policies ever come off, we'll be financed through our own (however remote) efforts, rather than some oil barron.

The days of making money from a football club are long gone ........................
nowadays there just a media/marketing machine.

No, you can make money from football. You buy a club down on it's luck but with good potential, invest in it wisely, then sell it once you've made a difference. cf Sullivan and Gold, Mandaric, Coates if he wanted to sell now.

It's all about twinning up achievement and timing. KM first publicly declared an interest in selling in the Prem, it's just that the subsequent failings have buggered up the value of the club.

it isn't just us.. it is the whole of football. since football went middle class in 1990 the game has fallen apart.. i just wish man utd and the big badges with their glory hunting fans would push off and form their own euro league and leave the rest to the proper fans.. drop the prices.. bring back the terraces.. beer and the atmosphere (like the bundesliga).. get rid of the divers, prima donna's and the shitty piped music before the kick off and after the goals (if i want that i'll go to ice hockey).. and shoot the wednesday band.. meh.. i'm very much into the st pauli model.. so we never win owt.. so what..
