were still 2nd, we are still in the driving seat hopefully we will carry on our good form like we did when we lost at charlton after Wednesday we will hopefully be 5 points clear of 3rd with 1 game in hand, if when all games are level we are 8 points in front surely 2nd will be ours, pigs still have to go to udders and we still have MK, so tough games are even. Am sure no one believes we can catch charlton so there should be no reason why pigs should be able to catch us.

On a different note slightly disappointed in our performance and believe DW got the changes wrong and subs wrong. Also expected more of a
reaction from him in his post match notes. As a united boss i'd be gutted to lose to piggys.

Thought the subs were the right ones, just too late

I'm not sure Wednesday are our main competition for automatic - I think it's Huddersfield.

A friend of mine who's a Wednesday fan says basically everything they've done which has been good this season went through Ben Marshall. Without him, they're just an average League One side. Looking at the facts, they appear to back him up:

With Ben Marshall - 46 points from 22 games - 2.09 points per game - comfortable automatic promotion
Without Ben Marshall - 14 points from 11 games - 1.27 points per game - lower mid-table

I don't think they did much today to suggest they've worked out how to replace Marshall. They can scrap, and they have a style which suits a derby, but I'm not sure they can put together the sort of run to challenge us.

With Huddersfield it all depends upon how they react to their managerial change. On the face of it, that sort of change doesn't seem ideal in the middle of a promotion race. However, sometimes these things trigger strange short term reactions, and it might just send them on a winning run.

Either way, it's firmly in our hands.

They started with a win on Saturday against Exeter, but Stevenage away on Tuesday may give a better indication of how they react to the change.

Nothing has changed. we're still Blades. which means that when we're doing well, we wait expectantly for a defeat, then we proclaim loudly which members of our squad (the squad that just won 11 games from 13) are "not good enough", and round on each other if anyone dare call for a little common sense.

If that defeat should come in a match that we attach an unnecessary prestige to then all the better. We're in a position that 22 other teams in this league would LOVE to be in, yet we're not happy unless we're tearing our own players apart.

Because we're Blades, and that's what we do.

So the pig is not disappointed at losing to the pigs, surprise surprise.

I wasn't happy with his pre match comment that it would be nice for both Sheffield teams to go up.

No it would not Wilson.

Win the 2 games in hand and nothing has changed in fact it would of got better from where we started today.

Why would Wilson not think the same about the pigs as these players think about The Blades?

I think it'd be great for both Sheffield clubs to go up as well grumpy.

I'd love both teams to play each other every season.

He wanted a draw I think or a scrappy 1-0 win which the Oinkers ended up with in the end.

So no more derbies would please you? I think it would be a very sad day when we didn't have the opportunity of more Derby games. A one club city? Some.may disagree but that would be boring!

True they aint our competition all they have done is done Huddersfield and possibly MK Plastic Dons a favour.

Wednesday on paper should be 6th in the league at best and probably will be if all of us get results from our games in hand.

I think our biggest problem to come will be getting this squad to survive in the Championship next season.

Now thats a nice problem to look forward to.

Massive changes are needed in the Championship if we get there.

Some are changes that needed to happen before we went down though.

What's changed? Our style of football. Unrecognisable since McDonald got injured.

Fortunately, we have some decent options within the squad that could enable us to get our balance and rythm back, even if McDonald is out for a while.

I am not sure that comments like that could be counter productive,if the current squad feel they are on hiding to nothing. In other words get promoted and then get moved out

yeah but that's football.. you get yourself promoted and then get your chance to show you can play at a higher level.. if players are underperforming so they don't get promoted and not shipped out then they shouldn't have the shirt on.. if that is their attitude then they are taking the piss

I genuinely have no idea why people would want to put themselves through this shit twice a year! I hate Derbies with a real Passion, even winning them doesn't make up for all the stress they cause. If Wednesday went out of business I think I'd celebrate for a week!

They've also done themselves a big favour. Their play off place is now looking a lot mopre secure. Our automatic place is less secure. If we were to fall out of the automatic promotion positions there woulod be a high chance of meeting them at some stage in the play offs. I woulod imagine they would fancy their chances more than we fancy our's.
