What would it have taken for Stuart Attwell to book a Newcastle player yesterday?

Newcastle player kicks ball away when free kick given, blatant timewasting. Attwell 'talks to him'
Newcastle players kick, push, shove all through the game, including foul just outside the area. Nothing.
Newcastle players blatantly play acting to waste time. Dubravka in agony seconds before making full length save, Manquillo twice rolling around as though being shot. After treatment running around as normal. Nothing.
Newcastle players running half way across the pitch for a lengthy celebration in front of fans when they score their second. Nothing, Attwell just gormlessly looks on.
And he is meant to be one of the best refs in the game? Do me a favour!

Attwell always has been a useless twat. He really is oblivious to it as well.

He was the one who gave a goal when the ball went 5 yards wide. Clearly there’s been no improvement in him.

As one who is normally screaming for opposition players to be booked, I have to say that I can’t recall any incidents last night when I thought that a booking was justified . Yes they were annoying but it wasn’t OTT and the ref added 6 minutes, which seemed more than fair. And on another day, Billy might have received a 2nd yellow for that challenge on the keeper.

So their player not leaving the pitch at the closest opportunity when substituted wasn’t a booking?

Under the new rules it 100% was. Instead, Attwell walked the width of the pitch at the side of him laughing and joking, asking him what time he wanted to go for a pint after full time. Embarrassing performance from him even without the VAR farce.

I don't agree with you about the added time or the general point. Should have been c.10 minutes plus. In the second half there were 6 substitutions, a goal, numerous feigned injuries including two where the players received treatment and left the pitch. The referee let Shelvey run the length of the pitch of the pitch to celebrate a goal. That alone took about 2 minutes.
When Almiron got subbed off the ref pitifully ran/walked behind him trying to stroke his back, think trying to get him to go off quicker - it was cringey and weird particularly as he should have left the pitch on the other side.
The referee was totally incompetent got almost everything incorrect and was so weak. Bruce and the Toon played him like a fiddle. Maybe not biased just not up to the job, anyone who says otherwise knows nowt!
The linos were crap as well. South stand one missed an obvious throw in, ball was about a foot out and the John Street side one was just hopeless.
Truly crap team of officials.

Shelvey could have karate kicked a fan Cantona style and he still wouldn't have raised his card.

Worst referee in the English game always has been always will be he’s bloody awful.

Sums up my feelings on him. Whoever said he was a good referee wants sectioning. This is the idiot who gave a goal through the side netting .Countless teams have complained about his inconsistent performances. You judge a ref on not just his performance but his teams as well. Last night he was constantly ignoring his linos. When the crowd got on his back about a linos decision he over ruled the next one. That IMO contributed to the farce that surrounded the second goal. He looks hesitant throughout the game unsure of what to do. VAR must be a godsend for him as it gets him out of jail every game. Hope we scored him Nil on his assessment.

Is it no longer an automatic yellow card for kicking the ball away? They began time-wasting early in the first half, when their player (did not notice who) deliberately ignored the ball when they were about to take a corner, and then when he was told to get on with it, he kicked it in the direction of the dug-outs rather than the corner-flag. Either that is a mandatory yellow card (if the rule is still the same), or he should have been immediately subbed for being the worst passer of a ball in professional football.

Newcastle playing not coming off as a sub from the nearest side line.

Felt refs have been, generally speaking, excellent this year - even being undermined by VAR. Attwell was fucking shit though.

Yes it is but obviously last night made a mockery of it. For Attwell not to enforce it sums the man up. Clueless.

It was the same at Wolves on Sunday when we made up a sub though - our player didn't leave the pitch at the nearest point and their fans went mental. I honestly think they've scrapped it without telling anyone.

Just another rule where there’s no consistency at all and it depends what mood the ref on the day’s in.

To be honest I’d forgot it happened in our favour at Wolves (probably a few too many beers) but loved it at the time. So just one of those things.

Stuart Atwell joins the long list of c*nts over the years watching The Blades...
Matin C*nt Bodenham (Bristol R away /West Ham away -Gayle sending off)
Graham Smiley C*nt Poll (Arsenal semi final)
Andy twat Hall (Bristol C away)
Biggest C*nt of them all Chris Foy (many games)
Darren Bent Bastard Bond (Swindon home play off semi)
Not that I hold a grudge

If JonJo Shelvey had spent several years in the late 70s/early 80s posing as a lorry driver and gone around Yorkshire attacking and murdering prostitutes and later befriended Jimmy Savile whilst serving multiple life sentences, then Stuart Attwell would very possibly have had a quiet word in his ear.

It’s a ridiculous rule that they can’t really enforce. Away players are too close to the home supporters to be walking right round the pitch. No ref will insist a player walks past two and half stands of hostile supporters when there’s a chance of a ‘Grealish’ happening.

If that's the case then scrap it Bush, did this not occur to them when they introduced the new rule. The hostility occurs when the cunts slow time walking off aided and abetted by referees.

He’s the best in the business at letting the game flow!o_O

Matin C*nt Bodenham (West Ham away -Gayle sending off)
Mick Pierce was the ref in that West Ham when Gayle got sent off and he awarded a very dubious last minute penalty for West Ham. Martin Bodenham was the ref that sent off David Barnes in the 4-0 defeat at Spurs. Bodenham later became a first class cricket umpire.

Don't know how I got the West Ham ref mixed up.Yes I knew the clown was now an umpire. He will probably help relegate Yorkshire...

PGMOL revenge for PH's Spurs post match comments. They couldn't have picked a more inept ref if they'd tried. Expect at least one moment of pure controversy with this idiot in charge.

Controversy is when something goes in our favour, that almost never happens.

Convention is when something goes against us, that nearly always happens.

I therefore expect a conventional game against Newcastle.
