What was your first Blades game

Could not find a thread on this so curious to understand which was your first Blades game and what you remember about it.

My first game was Carlisle home in the 1984/5 season for a 0v0 draw. I was 8 years old and remember thinking how many people were there (in reality there were around 9k in the ground...hard to believe our crowds were so bad for what is effectively Championship level these days).

The first game I remember very well was against Maidstone in the FA Cup in 1988...and that sealed my lifetime love for the Blades.

30th March 1991, 2-1 win at home to Luton.

My cousin's 21st birthday and for some reason he decided to take the 6 year old me along with him and his mates. Missed Luton's goal as we were still in the pub, but 2 second half goals got us the win. I was hooked from then on!

Stockport County in about September '81 I think. Age 7. Won either 4-0 or 4-1. On the kop and thought the old man making monkey chants to one of their players was funny at the time. I didn't make the connection as to why until much older. Thankfully much has changed

Blackpool at home, Sept 1953, lost 4-3. It was against the team that had just won the Cup, with Matthews the most famous player of the era.

Last game of the season 76-77 v Plymouth, met my uncle in the hole-in-the-road near the fish tank. Walked to the game he paid, we stood on the kop. 1-0 Edwards, Jim Brown in goal, only other player I remember was Stuart Faulkner trying to go past their player in the area and hearing him say 'fuck' under his breath as the ball got knocked out for a corner. Inconsequential season but pitch invasion at the end.

Also my sister’s first and last game. Despite Hodges scoring a great goal, she wasn’t hooked.

My 1st game was either Blackpool or Bury at home around 78

Sheffield United 2 - 1 Liverpool, 05 September 1959, Division 2

In their team was Billy Liddell, Ronnie Moran, Jimmy Melia and Johnny Morrissey. Managers were Phil Taylor and John Harris. Our team

Alan Hodgkinson, Cliff Mason, Graham Shaw, Tommy Hoyland, Joe Shaw, Gerry Summers, Kevin Lewis (signed by Shankly the following year), Willie Hamilton, Doc Pace, Billy Russell, Ronnie Simpson.

Graham Shaw got both of ours from the spot. Morrissey got theirs (his first for Liverpool).

Liverpool find Shaw too hot on spot

Two penalties in three minutes by left-back Graham Shaw gave United the victory that keeps them at the top of Division Two. But what a narrow shave it was!

Liverpool appeared to have snatched the points when little Morrissey, stand-in outside-right, headed them into the lead after 63 minutes.

Then, after 74 minutes, came the first penalty - and that started from a fluke. Right-winger Kevin Lewis completely missed his kick from a Simpson centre but found time to make an ungainly hook into the goalmouth, where Billy Russell's head was waiting to steer the ball home. Reserve right-half Bobby Campbell fisted out what would have been a certain goal and Shaw scored from the penalty.

Three minutes later came the second penalty, this time Simpson was brought down heavily by right back Molyneux. Again Shaw obliged from the spot.

So the game ended in a flourish after an hour's boredom. Too many passes were going astray for worthwhile attacks to be built.

Willy Hamilton, Sheffield's brilliant young Scottish inside-right, started the match in devastating form - and ended it completely subdued by Barry Wilkinson.

Otherwise Liverpool's defence did not look as competent as United's well-drilled outfit, marshalled by skipper Joe Shaw.
Great saves
If Liverpool goalkeeper Doug Rudham had not been in great form United might have been at least two up by half-time.

His first spectacular save came after only nine minutes when he dived at Hamilton's feet. Then he made a wonderful leap to save from - of all people - his own centre-half, Dick White, who nearly turned a Lewis shot into goal.

White made up for this by kicking successive drives from Summers and Hamilton off the line a minute before the interval.

Anyway, once again, Hull at home, 19th January 1980. 1-1 draw with dutch pornstar, Len De Goey scoring our goal. Pretty sure Edwards scored theirs.

Yes , we've been here before and at risk of boring the arse of long standing members , mine was a 3-1 win against Chelsea in 1947 aged 6 .

Strangely , my only clear recollection of the match itself is that of Chelsea's goal but my abiding memories of the occasion are that of my old man slipping the turnstile attendant a couple of fags to let me in for free and him giving me a massive hug each time we scored and lifting me up in the air .

Burnley in the FA cup match in 1962. I was 10. I had been to Bramall Lane in 1961 to see Yorkshire play Derbyshire, but this was the first time me dad took me to see the Blades. We were stood just up from and to the left of the section of the fencing that collapsed. The crowd was unbelievable (was it as big as 60,000?) I saw nothing of the game; I was too small. But I still ruerd when we lost.

I was back the next home match though. The beginning of a lifetime's commitment. Something I've not managed with anyone else!

Northampton Town 81/2 4th division. 6-0 up with over half an hour to go the crowd got on the players backs as it was blatantly obvious they switched off thinking ‘job done’ At 6-2 we sneaked an 89th min Edwards 3rd only for Northampton to net again in injury time. Finished 7-3 but if we hadn’t have taken our foot off the gas we seriously could have hit double figures that night

First game was Fulham at home ‘77. 1-0 down we came back to win 2-1 with a Woody thunderbolt.
First away game was Cardiff a couple of months later. Won 6-1. In all my 40 odd years of watching the Blades I can’t ever remember watching United score 6 away from home again. (I know we have but I wasn’t there)

Although I definitely went on the Kop with my Uncle when we lost 1-3 to Chesterfield. He got some tickets from a dodgy bloke in The Birley car park (I remember that!!).Just looked that up and that was Jan 89. So turns out I don't know

Maybe my first game was a 0-0 with West Brom in April 88?
