A defeat at home to Scunthorpe is OK; we’re only 7 points off the playoffs having played a game more. We can still do it!

None of it is KB’s fault. He’s just a really unlucky manager and the constant injuries we have been having all season are just down to bad luck and coincidence. It’s nothing to do with the training.

We should all buy season tickets because it’s a tough time for the football club. Continuing to line the pockets of wealthy footballers is the only way to show our loyalty.

No one can blame the directors. They have done a great job. The self made £40M debt is worth it for that fleeting moment we had in the top flight. Short lived memories make it all worthwhile.

£10M was good business for the Kyle’s. One who will turn out to be a top PL full back and the other who will probably play for England. Plus keeping them wouldn’t have enhanced our promotion chances and increased their transfer value.

Billy Sharp couldn’t score for United because he “tried to hard” and “didn’t suit our system.” It had nothing to do with the manager’s inability to identify his best position or inept tactics. It’s a mere coincidence that Billy has scored consistently everywhere else he’s been.

The relegation of West Ham and Sheffield Wednesday would more than compensate for a lacklustre finish to the season. The joy of watching others falter is far more important than seeing our own club do well.

It’s OK if Donny Rovers finish above us because they are a great football team. The fact that they’re spoken about like the Brazil 1970 side is fully justified and deserved.

Perhaps Paul Walker is right. Perhaps we are all morons. Just because we pay for a season ticket and constantly fork out to keep the club going; doesn’t mean we have any right to air our views or show discontent. I don’t know how we have the cheek!

Constant mediocrity is acceptable and it’s so frustrating for the manager and players. Those that will be gone when we are all still here. We should show them some pity, our long suffering fans shouldn’t consider themselves hard done to in comparison, it’s ridiculous!

We should all be happy, happy, happy! It could be worse. We could be Charlton, Pigs, or Portsmouth. The fact that other clubs are worse off means we should grit our teeth and accept it. The plight of other clubs fully justifies any inadequacies we might have.

There is always next season

There is always next season

There is always next season

There is always next season...............

Sorry, who are these "happy clappers", I can't think of a single poster on here who has the attitude that nothing is wrong.

There are some Bob. You won't find them posting much because they don't have any like-minded people posting as well.

I see and hear them from time to time believe me. I suppose its more the denial and apathy that is apparent.

Besides, I meant every word of what I said :D

Even if it's meant somewhat tongue in cheek, I've not read such a condescending post in a long time.

Maybe we should all file into the 'depressing, miserable cunts' queue?

If we are using these generalisations, from what I'm being told maybe the "wrist-slashers" will have something to cheer at the end of the season in regards to the managers position.

I for one am hoping the rumours are 100% on the money, but I do get the feeling it would be too good to be true.

I'm not miserable Wards, not in the slightest. I'm just trying to see the funny side of it all.

Although the final comment would mean you're more likely to file into the queue for embarrasing yourself with foul mouthed insults.

If the post depresses you I'm sorry, but it doesn't depress me. I'm making fun of a disappointing season :)

I'm not getting at you Lou because this is a general comment and lots of people do it, but this whole sectioning people off into little groups really really gets on my tits.

All it achieves is one person thinking they can shout down the views of many people in one fell swoop without actually addressing the fact that a number of these people who supposedly fit into these groups actually disagree with each other!

Take Blackwell for instance. One member we know actually can't stand the bloke, but because he isn't all out for hanging and flogging him, he is now regularly cited as one of his biggest fans.

Making assumptions of people does little but undermines your own argument.

/rant over.

I find this post quite amusing in its patronising tone since it isn't that long since Lou declared he was joining the Blackwell Out Camp...

Agreed Linz, I've always been claimed to be a clapper despite posting my obvious dislike of Blackwell, his methods and manner.
My stance was always that while he could still achieve his targets you have to be behind him. I don't see why there isn't a "third way" of considered opinion that isn't immediately pigeon holed into one of two camps.

If only life really was so black and white.

I understand what you're saying here Linz but I think a few people are misinterpreting my intention here. I was not the one who coined the term "happy clappers" and neither do I think this is a legitimate, existing group of people. The thread title was a little piss take of the term itself, although I do think that there are some supporters that will just accept any old shit on the pitch - but thats by the by..............

Some of the tongue in cheek comments made in the original post are reference to things I either believe to be true, or have a hunch that they probably are true.

It's purely my opinion of things but with a sarcaistic twist as I recognise that people become sick of reading angry, repetitive rants about the club. I suppose in a sense I was trying to put into perspective the arguments of the ever-optimistic supporter and how ridiculous some of the views sound in my own head. Any post is motivated by opinion and I was trying to inject some light hearted humour and sarcaism. Why this has drawn a profane insult from another forum member is beyond me but I guess some find that type of post "condescending." I guess I will just have to cut my posts down to single line rants which are clearly more readable and entertaining.

Apologies to all

Why would Blackwell simply leaving be too good to be true?
I can't see it being anything other than a commercially-inspired certainty.
What the club must do is get rid as soon as or quickly announce that the April 17 deadline is being put back a month.
The opportunity is there for a fresh start with so many players leaving.

I'm not in the "hang and flog, call him every name under the sun" camp, but nor do I feel any particular affection for him.

I wouldn't be devastated if he went, I just can't see the club pushing him, rather waiting for him to jump. Regardless, I'll go and support the team and I'll be there long after Blackwell has gone, whether that's sooner or later.

So what group do I fit into?

Don't think anything will happen before April 17th, I think it may be on Blackies terms in the summer with someone already lined up. As I said its only a rumour I've heard.

Can someone tell me the date of this camp? I would like to attend. Is it going to be an annual event? sounds like a good end of season bash.
Mmmmm breakfast outdoors sounds wonderful, bit of footie on camp site. Is Mr Blackwell going to be there?

Are we in a mess? Yes

Are we in a bigger mess than most? Probably not

Is Blackwell totally to Blame? No

Is he partly to blame? Yes

Is McCabe totally to blame? No

Is he partly to blame? Yes

Do I like Blackwell's style? No

Should Blackwell go? Possibly

Will a new manager change things for the better? Possibly, more than likely in the initial stages.

Should McCabe go? Possibly, but that is his decision.

Would a change of Chairman improve things? Possibly. Then again it could make things much worse.

Is this the worst ever situation for SUFC? No

Is it the best? No

So where does that place me? A non-booing, shoes-on, disliker of the Blackwell style, appreciator of the very difficult current situation, respector of McCabes achievements, recogniser of some of his mistakes, hoper for things getting better and never anything but a Blade. Clapper or wrist-slasher?

P.S. I enjoyed the first post and understood the sarcasm. I thought it was a more a dig at the doom and gloom Blackwell out repetitives!

Either the 'hardcore' group or the 'mad' group :P

Thanks SEB. I'm glad someone got the message, much appreciated. I have very similar views to yourself. I do tend to over-emphasise them and massage my point a little (I know some dont like that) but my posts probably paint me as more of a misery than I actually am.

Every silver lining has a cloud eh Lou? :D

Just before you jump back on the horse, that wasn't an insult aimed at yourself, just an expression of my feeling towards the moaning masses. The type that really have nothing constructive to offer other than the whining vitriol we're subjected to every time we lose a game.

The word supporter has the clue in itself, why should we be battered down by the miserables for doing such? Why shouldn't the optimism be embraced that I, along with a very small minority, have expressed? I feel as though our fans have evolved into something entirely different, a pack of fucking idiots to put it mildly.

And just a quick edit to say that I may be losing my sense of humour after a morning of reading the site...things are now going way over my head :)

Yes I know what you mean Wards and I will accept that I mistook the comment as directed at me so that's fine, no problem.

I agree with you, optimism shouldn't be battered down. That's not my intention. My real intention is to highlight the obvious problems that some supporters seem to want to ignore. I will always support the Blades, I will follow them no matter what. But I am generally dissatsfied about a lot of things and concerned for the club's future. I don't in any way mind optimism but I grow frustrated with lack of acknowledgment at inadequacies. As Bob rightly says, a lot of people front up the issues and don't turn a blind eye to it but a lot of people do and that is why;

- apathy exists in abundance at the football club and;
- things will stay as they are unless we voice our opinions.

I am very optimistic that if we were to make a new and good appointment as manager we could rebuild a little in the summer and have a good season next time around. I do hold out that hope, but under the current regime I and many others see nothing changing.

As for the supporters, Sheffield United fans have always been 'glass half empty' moaners. That has always been the case and won't ever change. I don't consider myself to be a moaner, I consider myself to be honest and direct about our club. I sometimes get carried away and my passion can occasionally get the better of my brain. But my feelings are genuine and I don't spit vile abuse at the manager, players etc. so I feel I'm entitled to have a little joke and play up to it all a bit.

Regarding the initial post; as I said, it was intent on poking fun at the current situation (as I see it) and using the little terms people seem to repeat such as "happy clappers." I don't for a minute think that fans should be pigeon holed into groups and everyone is different.

Football fans are the same at every club, we've not evolved into anything different from any other club.
In our case, we can see the almighty fuck-up made by the powers-that-be and are questioning what on earth is going on.
Pointing out failures and specifically failures based on what the declared aims were is not the action of fucking idiots.
But at the end of the day, I suspect the financial ramifications of keeping the current manager in place will mean he leaves - regardless of what's said here or on any other site.
I also think it would now help if United are well beaten on Saturday and humiliated on Monday.
That might force change and an indication of what we're trying to do before the season ticket deadline passes.

I won't even bite on the bold. But I think it goes some way to proving my point above :shakehead:
