I don't think it's called a chimp any more, pommps.

But anyway, if Biggest Blade's team is indeed made up of bonobos, it would go a long way towards explaining the massive clusterfuck of the last few years.

Over 50% of the voters thought we would get automatic promotion.

Yes. Had I known the season lasted only three games, I would have been a little more cautious. Still, the new season starts on Saturday. Maybe we'll do better next time. Hope springs eternal.

Ok so you still think we'll get automatic promotion.

Serious question. Where do you think the goals are going to come from?

I suspect a good number will come from players who are not with us at the moment. That's one of the wonders of a football season. You can progress as you go. I suspect we will be bringing a couple in before the deadline and, hopefully, Miller and Di-De-Gi back in the reasonable future.

Of the current squad: Taylor, Brandy, Murphy (if he ever finds his touch) and a few from McGinn, Coady, McFadzean, Doyle, McMahon and the centre-backs. None, incidentally, from local hero Joe. Enough? No, certainly not, but DW is well aware of that and, given the opportunity, will put it right.

As a matter of interest, what is your solution to the 'season barely started' crisis that is creating such widespread panic?

I'd like to think we will get automatic promotion. In fact I expect it. I don't support this team expecting mediocrity and non-success, although that is precisely what has been served to us on a platter since fuck-knows when. I expect, in return for average 17k gates, merchandise sales, some television, sponsorship and shareholdings, for us to be a damned sight better team than we see out there struggling against one-time re-election battlers like Colchester United.

Where are the goals coming from? No idea. Certainly not in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Div 1's shittest forward Porter and some bloke who once scored goals in the Thistle and Kilt, Loch Pish under 17s back in the day. Miller might be the answer, but by the time he plays he'll be 33 and we'll be called Sheffield Tesco or summat. Mebbe a change in formation could be the answer - 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond) and two new strikers. Freeman? Fuck knows. After selling our bestest bestest ever ever player to Wolves to sit on their bench and seeing most of our other sales happy in other divisions (Lowton and even Francis for Boringmouth) I'd say the board owe us a few favours. Loike that'll happen, though.

I don't think there is a realistic quick fix solution.

Like you say we can only hope that we can bring in a couple more players to strengthen the midfield and attack. Other than that I think we're counting down the days until Miller returns because I am not at all impressed by what I've seen of Murphy and Taylor. Brandy could be useful but he's more adept at creating than finishing.

Murphy has been a huge disappointment. He appears to have a bit of talent but is lightweight and needs to inject some purpose into his play. It's too early to come to similar conclusions in Taylor's case. He needs that first goal, I think, sooner rather than later.
