looking at seats for next season on the kop. What row does the pillars start to obstruct the view?

I believe the pillars are positioned around rows J-N or something like that. So seats in the first 10-12 rows should be in front of the pillars and thus unobstructed. Might be worth speaking to the club/ticket office to be certain though.

Unless you're sat really close to them they're not as big a deal as people make out, tbh. My ST seat for years was on row X and when the ball came into an area obscured by the pillar it was easy enough to simply duck to one side and follow the action.

Your bigger visibility problem on the Kop is that when we're attacking that end, every time the ball gets into the final third everyone stands up so you won't get a decent view of most kop end goals anyway unless you're fairly tall. The atmosphere makes up for it though in my experience

I agree with all of this, but would also add on the benefit of being sheltered from the weather. I've sat all over the Kop in my time, and if you're anywhere in front of those pillars, and the weather isn't great, you'll become rather damp pretty quickly.

Looks like Row M (and forwards) is clear of the pillars.
I'm normally further back on LL or MM which affords roof cover and everyone ends up standing when play's at the Kop end.
There's a cacophony of clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk as the seats fold up when everyone stands up to see what's happening.

I’m in KB4 on gangway G, looking at the pitch the post covers the corner of the 6yd box, that sounds awful but in reality, I’ve been there since our last L1/First wilder season and in the heat of the match the post has never been noticed.

As long as you can see the centre spot, 4 corner flags, both goalmouths you’ll be OK
