What's the verdict for this weekend's weather with regard to Sunday's match?

Given that the Brentford game was cancelled mid week, has the pitch had time to dry out or is it still getting wet?

It is raining here in North Norfolk now, and very wet.

It's sleeting here in the west of Scotland and it's cold and wet.

Time for Swiss to give us the Japanese weather.

It shouldn't matter:

From sufc.co.uk

Following the postponed Sky Bet League One encounter with Brentford, and given the continued adverse weather conditions, Sheffield United has commissioned a full pitch covering solution from Northamptonshire-based company Sports and Stadia with the intent of ensuring Sunday’s game against Nottingham Forest will go ahead.

This is the same protective covering that was used effectively ahead of the Blades’ fourth round FA Cup tie against Fulham.

Head of Operations at United, Dave McCarthy, explains: “Like the majority of Football League clubs, we do not own covers that protect the whole surface, and so the Club has acted quickly to make sure that the extreme wet weather does not get the better of us again.

"Both United and Forest have agreed to share the significant cost of hiring the system, in order to make sure the game can be played as scheduled.

"The Bramall Lane playing surface has now been fully covered with the pitch protection system to avoid from any further saturation from the elements."

Loosely translated to:

"Dear Sheffield United FC,

If you insist on playing against Brentford and further damage your pitch resulting in the postponement of the much more important FA Cup game on Sunday when the eyes of the world will be on the game - we will pretty much kill you. We therefore suggest that you cancel the game against Brentford and make sure that, under no circumstances the game against Nottingham Forest postponed.

Yours Faithfully
The FA."

Good news we have the covers on. All systems go for Sunday.

It hasnt really been raining much this evening (more like on and off light showers). Weather forecast states that there will be no rain from 3ish tomorrow so I would take the covers off at that time to allow the grass to recover

Just had some serious gusts up here in S8 (not curry related). Those expensive pitch covers could be anywhere by now. :)

High winds and electricity power cuts just at Jaden Smith is getting to the crux of "After Earth"

Not so much rain as gale force winds with a few showers.

Just put the new puppy to bed
Alfie is 8 weeks old and is a chocolate Cockerpoo.
Not a peep from the little bundle of fluff, snug in his bed in his blanket.

Fence mending tomoz it seems

The night has been unruly. Where we lay,
Our chimneys were blown down and, as they say,
Lamentings heard i’ th’ air, strange screams of death,
And prophesying with accents terrible
Of dire combustion and confused events
New hatched to the woeful time. The obscure bird
Clamored the livelong night. Some say the Earth
Was feverous and did shake.

its officially bobar.

Been to the lane and managed to speak to the younger grounds staff bloke who told me that the cover was doing it's job and that overall the pitch was draining well. It will probably be a boggy pitch on Sunday and it will cut up quite easier however it will have been rolled and drained so should be hot to trot and he says he doesn't think it will be callled off now under no circumstances, no pitch inspections planned either.

Still expecting a RS phone-in special to explain why their postponement was justified and ours wasn't.

This is all building up to a submerged Theatre of Rust at some time in the near future - shame.

Just calling to say Rob... you know what I mean.... that the Don, you know what I mean, is MASSIVE compared to the Sheaf....

I see Crawley have had ANOTHER postponement. They're six games behind most sides now. Poor buggers

21 games left in ten and half weeks meaning that at present they have only one free midweek date

It would be a problem if they were chasing promotion but they aren't. They probably only need to win 6 games out of 21 to stay up so I don't think they are realistic relegation candidates. Hopefully, the height of their tiredness comes when they play us at the end of March.
