Keep EEL, and we could do with some speed. Think what we do lack is speed up front. So much of the game is based on speedy players to counter. We're short in that department. Pretty sure CW is well aware.

Nathan Byrne , Matty Phillips type player

Let's get these out of the way to start with :)

we could do with some speed.

I think the player most interested in that statement has left the club

speedy players to counter

What's Luton Shelton up to, could do a job?

You're welcome.

plays in Novosibirsk, russian second tier, somewhere between here and Alaska

A few thoughts;

- A midfield player that can get ten goals between now and the end of the season.
- Retain EEL's services for remainder of the season.
- No loans of old has beens on too much wages.
- A loan from a top Premier League team of a young talented goalscorer.

Jose Baxter Baby's yer man for speed.
My wish list would be hungry players. Not just peckish, but really hungry and I'm talking Higgopottomus hungry.
French and black a bonus.

Tom Witherington is the most likely signing in my opinion, would do a job for us until the end of the season.

Nick Rowals is one Wilder probably has on his list too, heard nothing but good things about him.

Witherington would certainly add strength to the back 3 and Rowals would be the answer to the speedy winger we want...

Usain is retiring after the world champs in august. Wants to play for Man U Do we think he has a chance there? No. If tit is speed you want can whoever play football?

We've got one - Mark Duffy

Not irreplaceable if he is recalled. CW will be aware of the situation and will have a plan B

Pretty confident this will not happen

Given CW's recruitment record thus far, I'm confident he'll get the right players in regardless of where they're from

quality RWB cover for Freeman, like for like replacement for EEL if loan cancelled, replacement for Lafferty if loan cancelled, Long sold or loaned to maintain his development and a wide player to replace Chapman

It's difficult to see what area we should prioritise, but when I look at our team and think what we need most to improve I always reach the same conclusion - more pace and quality out wide. In the formation we play the wing backs can make all the difference. Put two quality ones in our team and we'd be unstoppable this season.

The formation confuses matters a bit when it comes to recruitment. The type of player/s we sign for wing back could decide whether we sign an out and out winger for example.

At the moment I'd hope for 3 or 4 signings and probably prioritise like this...

1. Keep EEL/sign replacement (confident we'll keep him).
2. Attacking wing back - whichever side, depends who we can get. If LWB then keep Brown to cover Freeman, and loan Hussey out.
3. Attacking midfielder/winger to replace Chapman
4. Striker
5. Centre back
6. Midfield cover for Coutts and Fleck

But priorities can change depending on the quality of player you can sign. If we can get a quality striker for example then we should make sure we do.

Looking at all the comments above its all cover we need except the EEL position.
Maybe add some pace too but in the fans eyes it's keeping EEL that's our top priority.
That's a good problem to have because we haven't got to start from scratch,we know he fits, we know he's good and we know he'd come back. The main problem is Wolves. That's still a better situation that having to gamble on a new signing for the second half of the season.

EEL permanent and no strikers. Maybe loan in a young attacking mid from a Prem club who's getting no game time

Interesting Transfer window. Stick or twist (and there is a lot to be said for consistency)

In an ideal world you'd go out and make a statement and find someone who can make a real difference and potentially seal promotion. Someone with abit of an X factor.

Think the first priority should be to keep EEL or find an appropriate replacement. Think an attacking midfielder could be ideal to replace chapman and we were supposed to be after a winger in the summer too. Another prolific striker would be nice. We could be short with injuries / suspension.

But I also don't know that we can afford or attract upgrades on the likes of Coutts, Sharp, Duffy, Fleck O'Connell.

suppose its nice to be in a position where we aren't carrying players.

Agree with the list. Would change the order as follows

1 EEL has been significant
4 the game is all about goals, only Sharp is scoring and there is no loan window
3 pace to change a game
2 Agree that with the formation we play, it's a critical creative position
6 We can just about cover but not with the same quality
5 We already have 5 (given 1 happens) plus Semple. Pretty low down but last of the "needs"

outside of this list, sometimes the right guy is available in any position. then you grab him.

I agree that goalscoring is the main thing we need to make sure we improve or at least maintain. If anything's going to cost us it's not scoring enough at home - we've scored 18 in 11 and had a number of warning signs. I've got no concerns about us away from home, I've maintained that since Gillingham - we're perfectly equipped to do well away. But then again, adding more goals will only help because we do concede at least one a game away from home.

I'd want to make sure we sign a striker if I was Wilder. I think Lavery and Clarke will chip in but we could do with someone who's ideal to play alongside Sharp while being able to score plenty himself. Someone we could also rely on to replace Sharp if he was injured. Basically, a quality striker. One of those is more likely to single handedly win you points than any other player.

I'd be looking at getting a wing back who's quick and good going forward, which would reduce the need to replace Chapman with someone who's a natural winger. We could instead focus on signing an attacking midfielder, who could also cover for Fleck and Coutts, with an ability to play wide being a bonus. Then we also have David Brooks.

I would also be open to signing a second wing back if the right player is available. Although this would possibly mean going a bit too far numbers wise with the recruitment if we signed players in the other positions mentioned.

I'd also like a centre half and I think Wilder would too, regardless of whether EEL stays or not. It would be a sensible insurance policy. We only have four players I'm happy playing in the back three - EEL, Wright, J'OC and Basham. Wright could well pick up injuries. Basham isn't a natural CB and sometimes gets caught out. I'd like another option who's comfortable playing in the middle of a three - I think only Wright is.

So ideally for me...

Centre back
Wing back/winger - one player
Chapman replacement/Cover for Coutts and Fleck - one player
Striker

Something like...

Byron Webster - 450k
Tendayi Darikwa/Elliott Bennett - loan
Emyr Huws - loan
Ched Evans - 350k

That would do me. And us. We'd go up for sure.

Maybe for a speedy player we could sign Gwion Edwards from Peterborough . Plus he has played wing back before and is right footed so he could be a quality back up for freeman . Also maybe Gbolly Aryibi

1st knobhead on last night's Football Heaven:
"We should pay £1m for EEL".

2nd knobhead (Brian the Part Timer)
"£2m for EEL"

You might have thought we'd learned our lesson with the Beard. You don't pay £2m for a defender in the Third Division, end of.

Typical Bladetards.

"There can't possibly be any better players than this player we have on loan, I've forgotten that we're in League One and I'm totally out of touch with what players are worth but overpaying for a loanee has never gone wrong before so United should listen to me and pay whatever it takes to sign this once in a lifetime player..."

So...you want a ferkin' miracle then? And a shed load of money?!?

I'd like some one who would make as big a difference in the air up front as EEL has made at the back.....
We have far far too many wasted corners ....

Agree on pace....how many times have we cleared from the back, Doney has knocked on and Billy has run his little legs off but come up short against the full-back.....someone with pace would have had half a dozen clean-through chances so far this season....

First priority is to keep EEL (on loan if possible) or a replacement if Wolves want him back in January.

Next is a big lump of a centre forward (like Billy Whitehurst, Shipperly or the "Chief") to bring on to bully and frighten opposition defences. Leon is not up to it. EEL managed it for a couple of minutes at a time and it resulted in goals.

Pacey and tricky winger a la Chapman

A book/video for Lafferty on how not to waste possession during matches. Failing that, a return to Burnley for him ;)
