Also think I'm right in saying entrance fee for both was Sterling only, no Euros, Worksop to confirm

Yes mucker , beat them 3-1 here and think lost 3-2 away , so a rare win over the then West Germany , England team from that game below , not many of these made the step up to the full England team apart from the odd appearance :

England: I.Hesford, Danny Thomas, Terry Fenwick, Sammy Lee, Mike Duxbury, T.Caton, Paul Goddard, S.McCall, G.Shaw, G.Owen, D.Hodgson (Js.Fashanu).

Jesus , I didn't know Hesford & Caton had died too .. I know Hesford liked a drink , I was working in Retford & I bumped into Wayne Jacobs who I've known & played against from back in the day & he was with him then , I think Hesford had got a pub there ? When he was at Blackpool he looked a good young keeper but got injured early on after move to Weds and never got back in front of Hodge after that career never got going . Tommy Caton was another good young centre half at Man City & Arsenal I never knew he'd died of a heart attack at 31 until I've just looked it up , Fashanu scored 3rd goal at the lane that night that turned out to be the one that ultimately won us it I always remember that turn & volley goal against Liverpool for Norwich an absolute blinder , another sad story there too

I was at that game, had the programme until a few years ago. Main players in Spains team that went on to have good International careers were the keeper Andoni Zubizaretta and main striker Emilio Butraganeo.
Can't remember much about the England team other than Mel Sterland played and Mark Hateley scored.

Wasn't he told to warm up to go on in about the 89th minute and decided he wasn't sure he wanted to tie himself to England so pretended not to hear them calling him back to go on?
