What follows after a successful manager leaves?

We would be foolish, people have short memories in football, listen to everything wilder says in interviews about how far we have come, and how it's insane that we are here at the second season in the premier league. It's something as a fan I haven't seen before that we have sustained premier league status for a second year. I would also say that a good cliche to use is 'judge us after 10 games' I think most years wilder has said he doesn't look at the table until after ten games, and maybe that's the yardstick again this season, maybe not? Either way, name a better manager for Sheffield United, or one you would rather have over Wilder.

Agree with a lot of that blade56 but we havnt lost the next two yet,we surely wont roll over without a fight.Wilder wouldnt accept that .
Not expecting us to roll over ftb and IF we try something different, more attacking through the field to play to Burke and Brewster’s strengths we might get something from the Liverpool game. They looked vulnerable with a high defensive line but we had 4 players all caught offside in the same move against Fulham, that’s sloppy discipline from our forward line.
If we can manage 2 or 4 points from the next 3 by changing our tactics to suit our best players it could kickstart the season. But leaving Brewster on the bench and persisting with Lenny and out slow on the chalk line build up won’t cut us any slack IMO.
One minor concern is Brewster’s head set against the club he obviously wanted to play for but what better way to show Klopp he was wrong?

Having just listened to his interview from yesterday I must admit I don't like being told that we're lucky to be where we are and we should just be grateful.

We haven't spent mega money but we've spent enough and our net spend must be relatively high compared to other bottom half clubs.

The next 3 games should be free hits, but now we can't afford to just go and express ourselves because we've had a shit start. We'll now play park the bus tactics and look to keep them at bay for as long as possible whilst offering bugger all going forward, McBurnie will continue to look poor and we'll be in the shit still after 10 games.

I must admit I agree with that. Bizarre thing about him saying that, was that it completely avoided the question that had been asked. The interviewer was talking taking positives from the performance then he goes on a long waffle about that instead.

That said having been able to see the full press conference interviews then I can tell he is sick of doing them. There are some very stupid questions being asked and some of them had been asked by a previous interviewer.

If people like Nathan at Yorkshire Live want to do something different compared to shite like Sky Sports then maybe get some questions from fellow Blades fans to ask Chris Wilder.

He's acutely aware of the criticism the team are getting at the moment, so him and the team need to work their way out of it. Yes, I would rather play in the PL than League 1 or the Championship, but if we don't play well we won't be.

My worry with us dropping back down is based on past history and we tend to make rash decisions when things aren't going well. I'm not convinced we'd end up with a decent manager or keep our players if we do get relegated, so I'd rather Wilder and the players keep us in the division.

I am not saying the questions should be particularly critical ones though, just a better line of questions. Not ones that give Wilder a grilling.

I agree if he left we would end up with some reyt fucking melon as manager like Steve McLaren or Graham Alexander.

My time following United started in the Forth Division 81/82. In that time these have been United’s most successful managers.

Ian Porterfield - Took United from the 4th to the upper half of the second tier. Sacked 1986 ish. 1988 - back in the third.

Bassett - Took United from the third to the first tier where we stayed for four years. After relegation, Kendall, Spackman, Bruce and Heath followed. All of them failed to get promoted and by the time Heath had come and gone we were awful.

Warnock - Like or loath him, we improved year on year and finally won promotion.

Wilder - After Robson, Blackwell, Speed, Adams, Wilson, Weir, Clough, Adkins we were 11th in League one and a shambles

Nobody sensible is calling for Wilder to be replaced at the moment but the minority have started already. If we take few or no points from Liverpool, City and Chelsea our minority of entitled halfwits grows. Should the worst happen and we find ourselves relegated come the end of the season Stick with Wilder or face a repeat if the above.
If we're relegated - Wilder goes at it again to get us back...regardless for all these reasons.

It's far too unique a situation to fairly criticise this season. It's just too weird. Without the usual atmosphere and self imposed pressures we're a shell of what we were. Yes it's the same for all but for whatever reason(s) we're suffering a fck load more.

I do think we're going down. But only after a full season with any semblance of normality do I think CWAK's position should be under review.

I’m not saying it won’t happen but past history is entwined with the McCabe dynasty, who have no influence over such matters anymore.

I do get fed up with him saying "we are at different level to other teams regarding money" yea, we know, but not all of them have billionaire owners splashing the cash.
I grew up in a family with little money coming in, holes in jumpers, hand-me-downs, probably same as many on here, but we didn't bloody go on about it all the time, if out of respect for the effort our parents were making to make things better.
Stop winging and get on with, prove your worth ffs.

Like many wrinklies on here been through the bad times verge of Europe to Division 4 in 6 seasons, sandwiched between a mauling at the rust bucket. I cannot believe that after 5 games folk are tipping relegation, we've conceded 7 goals and 2 of those in 1st game, Liverpool let in our total in 1 game.

I'm not saying we'll not get thumped but already this season lots of teams have been, I mean come on yesterday we had a VAR decision go in our FAVOUR.

We just need the rub of the green and we'll be flying again even if only up to 15th, come on you can't get to ground to watch, so support them by stopping saying the R word, if we'd played 34 I'd understand.

One thing that nobody has mention is how much influence does Van Winkle have behind the scenes, not saying he he has influence over CW and team selections etc but he will be talking to PA.

If we have 1 point after 34 games we are definitely going down.

Is this the mad house or what ?
I just don't get this, a manager who 2 seasons ago was voted best manager by the people who know the game inside out, and last season came in second place to a Liverpool manager who had won just about every thing that was going, is now being criticized by a bunch of Play station managers ?
I know lets send for Brian the Blade, and let him tell Mr Wilder where he's going wrong.........

The only question I have is, how many years did Bassett have after he took us down?

He couldnt get us back up so went in the end, he wasnt intantly sacked.

Now i'm not calling for Wilders head at all, he deffo should stay, but if we go down theres no guarantee he will take us up.

Give you head a sheck Blades! He’s still got plenty of credit left in the bank for getting us out of our 6 year league 1 purgatory FFS. What we’re experiencing now is the icing on a very unexpected cake......whatever position we finish in.
